Aksu Artux Kashgar Trip
October 14, 2005Today we are going from Aksu to Kashgar ( 500km ). On the way, we will visit Artux, which is only 40km northwest of Kashgar. So though our destination today is Kashgar, the main activity is focused on Artux.
Artux, Atush or Atushi is the seat of Kizilsu Kirghiz Autonomous Prefecture. It is situated south of the Tianshan mountains, in the northwest part of the Tarim Basin. Artux's economy is primarily agriculture, the agricultural products are mainly cotton, grapes, and sheep.
In Artux, we are arranged to visit a local huge grape garden. In the evening we are given an excellent folk performance. After the show, we drive to our destination - Kashgar and stay at the new hotel ( sorry, I forget the name of hotel ).
