Location: Lijiang city is in the northwest of Yunnan Province, the joint between Yun-Gui Plateau and Qing-Zang Plateau.

History: The Ancient Lijiang City has a history of 800 years or 900 years, it began to take shape in the Southern Song Dynasty. The Ancient Lijiang City was named "Dayanxian County" in Ming Dynasty. Since it is in the middle of the Lijiangba Dam and surrounded by the green mountains and a river that runs through the forest, and looks like a green ink stone, it was given the name. An American scholar arrived at Lijiang in 1921 and the Dongba culture of Naxi Nationality began to attract the attention of the foreign scholars.
With the founding of the People's Republic of China, Naxi Nationality experienced a huge unprecedented social change as China's other nationalities. A 7-degree earthquake took place in Lijiang on 24 February 1996, and more than 5,000 people died, Naxi Nationality suffered the unprecedented damage. The earthquake caused many parts of the world to pay attention to Lijiang, and at the mean time, the unique landscape and culture of Lijiang began to catch the attention of the world.
Climate: Located in the low latitude area, it has a temperate plateau and mountain monsoon climate. The four seasons isn't very distinctive. From the foot of the mountain to the peak, it has a very distinctive climate change. The annual average temperature is between 12.6 and 19.9 degrees Celsius. The annual precipitation is between 910 and 1040mm. The rain season is between June to September. Non-frost days is about 191 to 310.
Transportation: Airline- Lijiang Airport is located in the south of Lijiang city, 28 kilometers away from the downtown. It has flights to Kunming, Shanghai, and Xishuangbanna.
Highway-The traffic in Lijiang depends mainly on highway. Tourists can take a coach bus at Kunming, Dali or Panzhihua to Lijiang. It takes nearly 10 hours from Kunming to Lijiang and regualar busese run day and night. It takes about three or four hours from Dali to Lijiang.
