The Moerdaoga National Forest Park in the Greater Khingan Range is a fairyland that you cannot afford to miss when you are planning your northeast Inner Mongolia Tour. “Moerdaoga, or Moridaga  (莫尔道嘎)” literally means that “Riding your horses and set out”. The words were said to be shouted out by Genghis Khan. In 1207, Genghis Khan returned to Shiwei to pay tribute to his ancestors. On the route he suddenly had an idea of going hunting and chased reindeers on to the summit of Longyshan Mountain. On the mountain top, overlooking the sea of forest under the dense clouds, bright sunlights and encircled by various peaks, he then had a vision all of sudden of unifying all the Mongolian tribes, then shouted out “Moerdaoga” – “Ride your horse and go on for a expedition”.
