Tour Description
Pick up from your cruise terminal at Xiamen in the morning, then you are transferred to the ferry on a 10-minute ferry boat trip to Gulangyu Island. You will see many colonial buildings constructed after the Opium War, including the Britain, the America, France, German, Spain. You are also arranged to also visit Shuzhuang Garden, a mesmerizing seaside garden and the famous Piano Museum with a collection of 80-fold valuable old pianos from all over the world.
After lunch, continue to visit South Putuo Temple, the most famous Buddhist temple in town. South Putuo Temple is an active temple with over 200 monks. Everyday a huge number of visitors flood the place to worship the Buddha and Bodhisattva Guanyin. South Putuo Temple was first built in Tang Dynasty (618 – 907). Later its name was changed for several times. In the early Qing Dynasty (1644 -1911), the general Shi Liang allocated funds to rebuild the temple, where the Bodhisattva Guanyin was mainly worshiped.
Then head to Huliashan Fortress, which was built in 1891, the architecture mainly blending the style in Ming and Qing Dynasty and the style from Europe. This ancient fortress houses a 28 cm Krupp Cannon, the largest coastal cannon in the world, which won the Guinness World Records for year 2000. The Hulishan Fortress was first built in the year of 1894 and finished in 1896.
After visiting the ancient military facilities, the weapon and barracks in the fortress, you will have a scenic drive along the Island Ring Road along the East Coast of Xiamen. The Xiamen Island Ring Road is a 4-6 lane seaside road totally 43km in length, a green belt that offers tourists a perfect place to bike along beautiful seashores.
At the end of the day tour, you are transferred back to your cruise terminal.
