Tailor Make Your Guilin Tour
Thank you so much for the awesome service today! Geoffry and the driver, Mr Shang, were great today. Geoffry was by the exit to the Guilin airport exactly where I walked out. And he did a great job as my guide. The van for the tour was clean and in good condition. The only suggestion I would make for better service would be to allow the guide to eat lunch with the guest when the guest is alone. It was kind of awkward eating alone, and there was plenty of food served which could have easily fed the both of us.
I'm hoping the coach tours will be a great experience as well.
Thanks again,
Jack Benzel

My Exciting trip to Guilin

Dear Betty,
We just wanted to let you know how wonderful our trip to Guilin was! Christina is a very charming and intelligent guide and we were very lucky to have her! She is an asset to your company! She is very knowledgeable and made our experience so positive! The drivers were very nice. Thank you again for all your help in arranging everything! My 19-year-old son will have so much great information to share with his college friends about the scenery of Guilin thanks to Christina! I'll write down some part of our trip in Guilin for others to share.

Day 01( Aug 12 )Beijing Flight for Guilin
20:40 We arrived in Guilin after two hours' delay. Fortunately, our local tour guide Ms.Linda Zhang was still there in the airport to meet us. Like every airport in the major cities in China, there is a highway connecting the airport to the city center. It didn't take long before we arrivaed at our hotel in Guilin - Park Hotel. It was over dinner time. But we were hungry. Ms. Linda ws very kind and took us to a very nice street snack for local flavors. It was a fantastic experience.

Day 02 ( Aug 13 ) Guilin, Yangshuo, Reed Flute Cave
09-13:30 Guilin Cruise on Li River
No visit to Guilin would be perfect without the Li River cruise to Yangshuo. This trip is 60 km long and takes about five hours. It may seem a bit long but actually we weren't bored at all. Apart from about an hour spent inside while eating lunch ( its cost was included in the ticket price) we decided to stay on the top deck. The weather was beautiful ( although the typical mist was wrapping the hills) and the scenery was stunning. Along winding Li River we saw bamboo forests, small villages, fishermen in their boats, women doing their washing but above all - the fantastic peaks and rock formations. Our guide pointed at some most beautiful hills and rocks telling us their poetic names, and, surprisingly they seemed to fit perfectly. Yes, it was a sheer pleasure. Many of the boats started at the same time, so the cruise wasn't as idyllic as one would imagine. The first third of the cruise wasn't very scenic according to our guide. By the second third of the cruise, I had gotten my wind and was able to see many of the famous spots.

11:20 Scene from the back of the 20 yuan bill
Lunch actually started at 11:20, but we were going to arrive at the scene of the back of the 20 yuan bill at around 11:20. So although the staff was trying to get us to go to lunch, we refused. We didn't think the food was going to be any good anyway.
We got some okay pictures of the scene from the back of the bill, but it wasn't great as i thought.

11:30 Lunch on boat
By the time we got to lunch, we were happily surprised by the food that we had't cared about. It was all right.

13:35-14:15 Yangshuo
Very touristy area with lots of shopping. Yangshuo is an ancient city with a history of over 2,000 years. It is famous for its spectacular views of hills and rivers. The Lijiang and Tianjia rivers passes through the town. A commercial street with bars in the town is also a favorite among visitors. Native produce is quite rich due to the fertile land which includes fruits such as oranges, tangerines, pomelos, chestnuts, and kumquats. It attracts thousands of tourists each year.

14:30-16:10 Drive back to Guilin then another 30 min to Reed Flute Cave
We drove by a building with a lot of people standing outside. Wei told us that those were doting parents waiting for their only child to get out of school.

16:20-17:30 Reed Flute Cave
The Reed Flute Cave is also known as the Art Palace of Nature. It was weird. The cave had some really interesting natural stalactite and stalagmite formations. But it was lit with colored lights making it a pretty experience in a Disneyland kind of way. The Reed Flute Cave is about 240 meters long, providing a fantastic wonderland of karst caves with landscape and rural scenery. It is a amzing fairyland of stalactites, stalagmites, stone pillars in different shapes and colors, all glittering against the colorful electric lights. Some of them were named after the vivid shapes of trees, hill, animals and etc. These remarkable views in the cave can arouse great interest from from domestic and foreign visitors. The cave is highly regarded as the "Art Palace of the Nature".

18:00-18:20 Drive to restaurant

18:20-19:30 Dinner of Local Deluxe Courses
Interesting dinner with snails and everything.

20:00-21:00 Local Minority Folklore Music & Dance Show in Guilin Royal Garden Hotel

Day 03 ( Aug 14 ) Guilin, Fubo Hill, Elephant Trunk Hill and Flight for Hong Kong
8:30-10:00 Fubo Hill
Fubo Hill is opposite the river from Guilin Royal Garden Hotel. Pretty much just another rock by now. But we climbed the 300 or so steps to the top anyway. There's a good view at the top of the surrounding city. Guilin's natural geography makes it quite different than any place I've ever been. These sorts of views are usually the best way to get a feeling for what the whole of a city is like, and usually my most memorable sights. Fubo Hill (Wave-Subduing Hill), is 120 meters long, 60 meters wide and 213 meters high. It stands solitarily in the northeast of the city and on west bank of Li River with half of the hill stretching into the river. Waves run back wherever they meet the blocks, hence the name "wave-subduing Hill". A tale has it that Ma Yuan who was called General Fubo from the Han Dynasty had once passed by Guilin on a southern expedition. He poured all the pearls he carried into the river, so the hill was named after him in his memory.

10:00-10:20 Drive to Elephant Trunk hill

10:20-11:20 Elephant Trunk hill. Elephant Trunk Hill is one of the Lijiang River's most important sights. It is located at the junction of the Li and Yang rivers to the southeast of Guilin. The rock hill with an arched hole (known as the water-moon arch) is named after its striking resemblance to an elephant sipping water.

14:00 After lunch, take flight for Guangzhou and connect the through train to Hong Kong.
