We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Unit 731 Museum
Don't know where to find the public bus to Unit 731 Musem, I have to take a taxi to the former Japanese Germ Warfare Base in Harbin. It is located in Pingfang District, about 35 km south of Harbin.

Unit 731 Germ Warefare Base was once a place where chinese people were tourtured by Japanese experimentators. These victims were exposed to various deseases, poisonous gases, and other dreadful tourtures.

The existent main building was the adminstrative headquarters of Unit 731, which housed the offices for commanding officers, aids, specimen display rooms and special rooms for gendarme and infirmary. It was a 170-meter long and 12-meter wide brick and wood structure. The roof was burnt when they rereated in August, 1937.

Pay a ticket of 20 yuan, you can see a documentary movie there.

People are not allowed to take pictures inside the building.

The Sentry Box att the South Gate
The germ test and production base of Unit 731 was located inside the barracks with separate security facilities - a 5 km long and 2.5km high and 1 meter wide earth wall, on top of which was mounted a high voltage wire fence. Outside the wall was a ditch. There are 5 sentry boxes along the earth wall. This sentry box was the major passage way for the Japanese to access the headquater building, the germ laboratory and the production base. It is the only existing sentry box.
