Lanzhou Dunhuang Jiayuguan 5 Day Tour

Day By Day Itinerary    ( B-Breakfast, L-Lunch, D-Dinner )

Arrival at Lanzhou airport or Lanzhou Railway Station, you will be met by our guide. You will be transferred to Lanzhou Railway Station and take train No.K9667 ( 17:56 - next morning 07:45). Stay overnight on the train ( 4-bed cabin ). No meals included.

Arrival in Dunhuang at 07:45am. First have a relaxing breakfast at your lodging hotel in Dunhuang. Then begin your tour of Dunhuang. You will be arranged to visit the Singing Sand Dunes, coupled by the Crescent Lake. You could have a short but interesting camel-ride along the sand dunes to reach the Crescent Lake. The Crescent Lake is a limpid lake in the shape of the crescent moon, bound by the sand dunes and frequently attacked by sand storms, the lake water keeps clear over for hundreds of thousands of years.

After lunch, continue to visit Mogao Caves. The visit to the caves is the highklight of your Hexi Corridor trip. The site of the Mogao Caves is located 25km southeast of the city of Dunhuang. The Mogao Cave temples rise three levels along a 1.6 kilometer escarpment near the Daquan River. Every visitor to Dunhuang will be overpowered by their rich complexity and astonishing details. There are totally 492 caves, hand hewn from the cliff face over a millennium, are numbered for reference and protection.

After breakfast, you will be arranged to visit Yadan National Park and Yumenguan Pass (Jade Gate Pass ). The weird eroded desert landscape of Yadan Park is 180km northwest of Dunhuang in the middle of the awesome zone of the Gobi Desert. On the way to the Yadan Park, you will pass by the Yumen Pass. You will stop to have a brief visit to the ancient military station, 102km from Dunhuang. This and the South Pass (Yangguan Pass ) were both the former ancient military passes, part of the Han dynasty series of beacon towers that extended to the garrison town of Loulan in Xinjiang.

Then transferred back to your hotel in Dunhuang.

After breakfast, you will be on the 385 road trip to Jiayuguan. Arriving at the city of Jiayuguan, your tour guide takes you to Jiayu Pass ( Jiayuguan Fort ). It was the first pass at the west end of the Ming Dynasty Great Wall of China. Built 1372,  Jiayuguan Fort was was christened as the first and greatest Pass under the Heaven. The pass consisted of three defense lines – an inner city, an outer city and a moat.

After visiting the grand pass of Jiayuguan, you will be arranged to take train K9663 ( 21:00 - next morning 06:39) back for Lanzhou.

Before transferred to Lanzhou airport or Lanzhou Railway Station to end your tour, you will be arrange to visit the Waterwheel Garden. Having a glimpse of the 20km green belt along the Yellow River is a must for every first time visitor. One of the gems on the green park south of the Yellow River is the Waterwheel Garden in Lanzhou.

Then, you will be returned either to Lanzhou airport or Lanzhou Railway Station for your next destination.
