We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Lanzhou Food
As for the influence of Muslim, the staple food of Lanzhou are generally of mutton and beef. Food in Lanzhou features spicy and salty. Beef noodles, representation of Lanzhou cuisine, are an indispensable dish on your dining route in Lanzhou. There are also some other local cuisines here, such as Baihe Tao, Jincheng Baita and Lanzhou Roast Lamb. What’s more, there are other Chinese cuisines and international food here. In short, you are offered various options when dining in Lanzhou.

There are two famouse food streets in Lanzhou: Lanzhou Delicacy Street and Dazhong Food Alley. Lanzhou Delicacy Street is located at the southeast of the intersection Jiuquan Road and Gannan Road. A lot of famous restaurants could be found there such as Quanjude Roasted Duck Restaurant, Mingde Palace Restaurant, and CaigeLanzhoug Restaurant.

Dazhong Alley with Silk Rod local specialties has a long history. The best restaurants with famous hand-pulled beef noodles are located here. Many restaurants with strong Lanzhou local flavor are also found here.

Lanzhou Beef Noodles
Lanzhou Beef Noodle is the most common dishes in the local area. It is pulled by hand, and only takes a cook for one or two minutes. The noodle is vividly featured by its soft chopped meat, fresh soup, fine taste and good shape.

Niangpizi
Niangpizi is a popular snack in Northwest China. Due to its function of relieving the summer heat and stimulating the appetite, Niangpizi is a famous food in summer. Generally, all the regions in Gansu can offer Niangpizi; however, Lanzhou Niangpizi is the best. The seasonings include vinegar, garlic, mustard, sesame paste, soy source and salt, thus the flavor.

Lanzhou Roast Lamb
In the city of Lanzhou there is also a large Muslim population which also influences the dining habit of Lanzhou. Roast Lamb (Kao quanyang) was already generally acknowledged as one of the then eight most famous dishes in Gansu Province.
