We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Hongjiang Travel Guide
Location: Hongjiang city is situated in the west of Hunan Province.

Population: 431,500

Area: with an area of 2,173 square kilometers

Nationalities: Dong, Miao, Yao, Hui, Tujia, etc.

History: Hongjiang City was merged with Qianyang County to form the new Hongjiang in 1997. However, the residents of the old Hongjiang City resisted this merge. In 1999, the old Hongjiang was separated from the new Hongjiang City and form a special Hongjiang District

Transportation: Located in western Hunan Province, Hongjiang used to be a major transportation center for timber, tobacco, and oils. Nowadays, China National Highway 209 over through the small town.

Overview: Covering an area of more than 200,000 square kilometers, Hongjiang is administratively divided into four stret offices and three village demotic governments. All the houses there are all with capital, grey tile and plastered wall, and lie in undulation within the “seven faltlands, eight alleys, and nine steets”. The houses are engraved with dragon on the beam and painted with phoenix.

There are couplets, tablets, and carved stones of Ming, Qing and Republic Period. Nowadays, there still keeps more than 380 ancient architectures, such as guest house, temple, and residential houses. They are either built at the high slope, or at the deep alley, or by the riverside, being connected through the winding bluestone slabs or seesawing stone step piers. One by one, patch by patch, with the mountain as the frame, the river as the blood vein.
