Location:Huizhou lies in the southeast part of Guangzhou province and the northeast part of Pearl River Delta – it faces Daya Bay in south and neighbors Guangzhou, Dongguan, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
History:
Early in the Neolithic Age, human beings started to live in this area. In 591 of the Sui Dynasty, the government set up Xunzhou, which then became one of the political, economic and cultural centers of Guangdong.
The name of Huizhou came into being in the Song Dynasty. In 1949 when the new Republic of China was established, the government set Huiyang County as the capital of Dongjiang Area. In 1994, Huiyang County was changed into a prefecture-level city.
Transportation:
Huizhou is served by the Hong Kong-Beijing Jingjiu railway with two stations: Huizhou West and Huizhou.
At the end of the year, city's total highway mileage reaches 10,468 kilometers. Grade road is 9349 kilometers and expressway is 277 kilometers. Highway mileage density is 94 km/100 square kilometers; and the grade road density is 84 km/100 square kilometers. The city has a total of 69 berths, covering 12 berths over 10,000 tons.

Huizhou West Lake
Huizhou West Lake located in the downtown area is stunningly beautiful making it an important tourist spot in this region.
The park area covers an area of about 3.2 square kilometres and its famous connecting five lakes cover an area of 1.4 square kilometres. It consists of five lakes, six adjoining bridges and ten particular spots.
West Lake also provides a sanctuary for many different types of bird which nest on the many islets on it so take a pair of binoculars to get close up to the action.

Luofu Mountain
Luofu Mountain is a sacred mountain in China situated on the north bank of the Dongjiang in the northwest of Boluo County in the prefecture of Huizhou in Guangdong Province.
Luofu Mountain is one of ten mountains of Taoism in China. There are 432 hills in various sizes, 980 and more famous springs and waterfalls, 72 stone caves and cliffs, 18 heaven fairy lands in Luofu Mountain.
The charming landscape, majestic mountain, splendid peak, fantastic rock, mysterious cloud and fair cave are the main features in Luofu Mountain.

Pinghai Ancient City
Pinghai Ancient City lies opposite to South China Sea, leaning on Red Sea Gulf in the east, neighboring Daya Gulf in the west of Huizhou.
Pinghai Sea Ancient City has a history of 600 and more. Ancient streets in the form of the character of shi, which means ten, lead to city gates of Pinghai Sea Ancient City. The streets are integrated with the ancient city congenially. The ancient folk houses on the two sides of the streets are well reserved. These folk houses are all constructed in the form of a square and in a balanced symmetrical type.
