We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Pingyao Nightlife
Pingyao is one of the hottest tourist sports in Shanxi Province. In the day time, the buildings that are Ming and Qing architectural style make you feel the time stops. However, the Pingyao city in the night is a gorgeous and colorful place, lit by kinds of 800 lanterns.

Recently, some bars with unique decorate appear in the old city, offering good destinations for tourists both abroad and native at night. Visitors can sing, dance, and relax at various entertainment venues. In addition, Pingyao Grand Theater stages many different kinds of local traditional performances every day. There are a few bars are recommended.

A hand of Sour Jujube
It is a play embodying the commercial culture of Shanxi province, and spreading the spirit of Shanxi businessmen. Since it was played on, the play has been highly appreciated. The whole play is divided into 5 parts.

Ming and Qing Street
The ancient Ming and Qing Street was the noisiest centre of business at that time. Located in the centre of Pingyao, the street is not very wide but with various shops orderly arranged along the road. These shops were all built with bricks and stones completely in the style of Ming and Qing architecture.

Old Pingyao Bars

Pingyao Da Xi Tang (Pingyao Grand Theater)
The Pingyao Grand Theater is located at the Nine Dragon Wall in the ancient city, facing the Confucian Temple and the God of Wealth Temple to the west, the Kuixing Tower to the south, and the ancient city wall to the east. It is a high-end performing arts venue that is equally famous with the French "Moulin Rouge". The original name of the "Grand Theater" was "Hall of Rites and Music". Founded in the 42nd year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1703), it was once a famous place for officials and gentry, merchants to relax, and perform, feast, and dance. The Grand Theater consists of six parts, including the Nine Dragon Wall, a theater corridor, a classical enclosed grand theater performance hall, a bar area, and a guesthouse. The Nine Dragon Wall and the Grand Theater have a profound historical and cultural origin.
The Grand Theater is a comprehensive performance venue that integrates the display of Northern style banquets and dances, traditional theatrical performances, tasting of famous and high-quality snacks, modern facilities for entertainment, and cultural and artistic exchanges.
