The weather is Qingdao is especially pleasant for much of the year, being influenced by its coastal setting next to the Yellow Sea. Qingdao's summer climate is warm and the winters relatively mild, especially when compared to more northerly cities in China.
July and August tend to be the hottest months in Qingdao, when the sunny weather is responsible for highs of 25°C or more. However, a monsoon period can arrive at this time of the year, resulting in heavy showers. It is not unusual for both July and August to experience precipitation levels of around 150 mm, with rain levels falling to 80 mm in September and 40 mm in October.
