Dumpling feast(饺子宴) is a Xi'an in Shaanxi Han traditional snack and it is one of specialty foods in the Spring Festival, Lantern Festival and other folk festivals. Dumpling feast is generally liked to eat by north people which has the fillings of meat and vegetables in a pasta, combined with delicious spices. Dumpling feast is developed on the basis of Xi'an Dumpling House and De Fa Chang Dumpling Restaurant which is an innovation in the traditional style, thus becoming a famous feast species.
The main feast in Dumpling feast are dumplings. Usually there are more than 100 kinds of fillings, according to the number of diners. If a table has seven people, each dish is only serve on the seven dumplings, once a dish finished, the second dish of different dumplings would be served. And a dinner never has the same dumplings.
Xi’an dumpling feast pioneered by Xi'an Jiefang Dumpling House. And it was launched in 1984. There are hundreds of different colors of dumplings and it can be divided into flowers feast, Peony feast, Dragon Feast, palace banquet, eight banquet and several other grades. Jiefang Dumpling House therefore becomes a legendary and the shop received customers at home and abroad on an average of four or five thousand people every day in recent years. De Fa Chang Dumpling Restaurant located in the side of Bell Tower has over half a century-old history. In literature, there is the fame of "entertain friends and texts with dumpling feast, recalling Chang’an and De Fa Chang". There has formed its own characteristics and renowned dumpling feast. There are a number of restaurants, hotels, also run dumpling feast, and some hang out "authentic dumpling feast" signs. Dumpling feast became a must in Xi’an cuisine. Some people say: do not see the Terracotta Warriors do not means come to Xi’an; do not eat dumpling feast also do not means tour in Xi’an.
Xi'an dumpling feast with its unique charm rightfully earned the praise of guests at home and abroad. Since 1987, Xi'an Jiefang Road Dumpling House and De Fa Chang Dumpling House respectively used technical training, technical performance, technology export, etc., so as to introduce the Xi’an dumpling feast to Beijing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Harbin, Xining, Zhengzhou, Hong Kong and other several dozens of cities and regions, as well as Japan, the Philippines and other countries, won high praise everywhere. Since its advent, Xi’an dumpling feast has won a lot of light. The dumplings are a traditional Chinese folk cuisine and there is the saying that "nothing is more delicious than dumplings ".
In the past, dumplings occupy the position in the old calendar New Year's Eve every household table, but it cannot be put into the banquets. In 1989, Xi’an dumpling feast was awarded by the Ministry of commercial catering industry's highest honor - the Golden Tripod. In the autumn of 1991, Xi'an Jiefang Dumpling House as a leader, in ten cities of more than a dozen joint formed a "Xian dumpling feast Enterprise Group." Xian dumpling feast is moving toward the country and the world.
