History: Wuhu has a history of more than 2600 years. Its earliest relic named Jiuci and changed into Wuhu in B.C.109. During the Three Kingdom period, Wuhu became an important strategically situation. In North and South Song Dynasties, Wuhu got great development as the economic center moved south. Under the Ming dynasty, Wuhu developed into a major commercial center and river ports.
Climate: Wuhu has a subtropical humid monsoon climate, featuring abundant sunshine, plenty of rainfall and distinctive four seasons. The annual temperature averages between 15-16℃ July and August are the hottest, when the average temperature exceed 26℃. It has an annual precipitation of 1,200mm, mostly concentrating in spring, summer and the early of winter. The sun hours ranges about 2,000 hours.
Transportation: Railway- Wuhu is served by the Anhui-Jiangxi railway and the Nanjing-Tongling Railway. Wuhu Railway Station is under reconstruction.
Highway-National Road 205, 318 and Wuhu-Hefei Highway, Nanjing-Wuhu Highway, Shanghai-Chongqing Highway get through the city.
Waterway-Wuhu Port is the fifth port of Yangtze River waterway, located at the junction between the eastern coastal areas and the western inland area.
Specialties: Wuhu Iron painting has a long history of more than 300 years. The unique style is favored by people at home and abroad.
Local Food: For its coastal situation, fresh seafood is the main cuisine for resident, such as steamed crab bun, shrimp noodles, etc.
