History: Tongliao is the birthplace of Hongshan culture and Fuhe culture with a history of more than 5,000 years. Abut 3,000 years ago, the residents in this area entered into slave society. In 1206, Genghis Khan unified al tribes of Mongolia, Tongliao became one part of Mongolia territory.
Climate: Tongliao enjoys a typical semi-arid continental monsoon climate. The spring is dry and windy. Summer is hot and rainy. Its annual mean temperature is 0℃-6℃and annual average precipitation is 305-400mm.
Transportation: Air-Tongliao Airport is 7km southwest of Tongliao downtown, serving schedule flights to Beijing, Hohhot and Dalian.
