History: The existence of human beings in Tonghua regions could be traced back to as far as 6,000 years ago, and the region is considered as the cradle of Korean culture and Manchu Shaman, which dominated the minor ethnics in northeast region.
Since it includes a period of 425 years as the capital of the Korea Kindom, the city preserves huge volumes of historical relic of great importance. There are over 300 places of cultural relic discovered within the city, among which Wanfa Relic is listed as one of 10 wonders of archaeology in China.
Climate: Tonghua is widely-known for its long enduring winter which is commonly lasted for 5 months, the summer of which is short and hot. In winter, the thickness of snow is up to 52 cm. As the southwest wind dominates most regions of the city, the temperature is characterized by a cyclical feature from hot, to moderate and cold. The monthly temperature ranges from −14.2 °C (6.4 °F) in January, to 22.3 °C (72.1 °F) in July; the annual mean is approximately 5.60 °C (42.1 °F). To cope with the dry and freezing weather, thick coats and Protective cream are highly recommended.
Transportation: Airways- Tonghua Airport is recently in construction. If you would like to arrive at Tonghua by air, airlines supported by Xiantao Airport (Shenyang), Longjia International Airport, and (Changchun), and Changbai Mountain Airport are among our suggestion.
Highways- The former Highway Station in Tonghua is directed to cities including Liuhe, Changchun, Shenyang, Jian, Yanji, Changbai, Dalian, Baishan, Fushun and so forth. The first bus is ready to depart at 6:00 a.m.

Local Specialties: Tonghua includes a huge reserve of forestry resources as well as medical resources. Besides, as the hometown of wine, the wine here is abundant in flavor and clear in color. Other nutritious specialties include Meihe rice, Ji’an chestnut, Ji’an Schisandra and ginseng.
Local food: As the region was once the origin of the Korean and Manchu, its eating habit is greatly influenced by these two ethnics. Korean cold noodle, sticky yellow rice cake, Korean “brazier” and flame grilled barbeque are among the favorites of local people.
Attractions: The Korean City (高句丽王城)- The capital of Korean Kingom consists of Pingyuan City and Shan City, including inside cities and Wandushan city, which has long been regarded as the capital of the Korean power since 1-5 Century. There are over 7,000 tombs placed outside the city, located in the plain surrounded by mountains. Numerous mural paintings inside the tombs, which show no intention to shed color, are telling legendary stories with delicate description and fluent lines.
