History: Tangshan was a small village originally. The Tangshan Earthquake, also known as the Great Tangshan Earthquake in 1976 destroyed the city into ruins. In the 30 years following the quake, the people of Tangshan built the ruins into a beautiful modern city through 10 years of construction, 10 years revitalization and another 10 years of new development.
Climate: With the influence of typical temperate monsoon, Tangshan has a warm temperate monsoon climate. There are cold and dry winter, hot and rainy summer, rainy spring and autumn. The annual mean temperature is 12.5℃ and the average temperature in January is -5.1℃ and 25.7℃ in July. The annual mean rainfall is 610mm, 60% of which concentrates in July and August. The frost-free period lasts 180-190 days. It has 2,600-2,900 hours of sunshine annually.
Transportation: Air-Tangshan Sannvhe Airport is 20km far from Tangshan Downtown, serving scheduled airlines to Kunming, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shijiazhuang, Yantai, etc.
Railway- Tangshan Railway Station, as the main station of Tangshan, offers trains to major cities of China.
Tangshan North Railway Station mainly concentrates bullet trains.
Highway- Tanghsan West Coach Station mainly shuttles long-distance buses to Beijing, Tianjin, Zhangjiakou, Shijiazhuang, Hengshui, Chengde etc.
Tangshan East Coach Station has buses to attractions and countries around Tangshan.

It covers an area of 2,500 square kilometers, including five emperor’s tombs such as Xiao Tomb of Shunzhi (1644-1661), Jing Tomb of Kangxi (1662-1722), Yu Tomb of Qianlong (1736-1796), Ding Tomb of Xianfeng (1851-1861) and Hui Tomb of Tongzhi (1862-1875). In addition, four tombs containing the remains of 136 imperial concubines and one tomb for princesses are also located here. The tombs have been listed as the National Cultural Heritage Conservation Board.
Tangshan Earthquake Memorial Hall-Tangshan Earthquake Memorial Hall (唐山抗震纪念馆) was originally built in 1986 to remember the great earthquake and the Tangshan people’s magnificent feat of rebuilt homeland.
