We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Taiyuan is one of city possessing the most cultural heritage projects in China. There are 5 national cultural relic protection spots and 17 provincial protection units including Mt. Wutai, Jinci Temple, Shuangta Temple, Tianlognshan Grottoes, Chongshan Temple, etc.





» Jinci Temple

It is said: It is a pity if you miss Jinci Temple in you Taiyuan travel. So, Jincin temple is a must when you travel in Taiiyuan. Jinci temple is in the source of Jin River, about 25km southwest of Taiiyuan city. It was listed as National Cultural Heritage Conservation Board in 1961.

Situated in the southeast of Taiyuan, Chongshan Temple (崇善寺) was built in Tang Dynasty. The present temple was once extended in Ming Dynasty, about 1381. The temple is covered with an area of 140,000 square km. Originally, it was called White House Temple, and then renamed as Chongshan Temple, which means great mercy temple.

Mt. Wutai
Mt. Wutai (五台山) is called “the four celebrated mountains of Chinese Buddhism” together with Mt. Emei in Sichuan, Mt.Jiuhua in Anhui, as well as Mt. Putuo in Zhejiang. Mt. Wutai is highly praised as the most holy land of Chinese Buddhism. In 2009, Mt. Wutai was listed into the world heritage by UNESCO. Mt. Qikou Ancient Town (碛口古镇) is lied at the foot of Mt.Lvlianga and along the bank of Yellow River. It is about 6 hour bus ride from Taiyuan. In terms of both its architectural characteristics and folk customs, this place is a classic example of northern China's ancient towns.

Fen river Park (汾河公园) refers to Fen Riverr Beatification Project in Taiyuan area. Covered an area of 300 hectares, the scenic area starts north from upstream of Shengli bridge, south to downstream of South Inner Race bridge with 6km long and 5500m wide.

» Tianlongshan Grottoes, Taiyuan
Tianlongshan Grottoes, Taiyuan
Tianlongshan Grottoes (天龙山石窟) is in the mountainside of Mt.Tianlongshan, about 40kms southwest of Taiyuan city. Tianlongshan Grottoes are a series of 24 decorated Buddhist caves scattered in the cliffs halfway up the western and eastern peaks of the Mt. Tianlongshan, thererinto, 8 grottoes in Eastern peak, 13 grottoes in western peak and 3 grottoes in northern peak.
