We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!
After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.
Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province, known as “Fengtian”, “Shengjing”, is the center of police, economy, culture, finance, science and education, military and commerce of Northeast of China. Shenyang is a famous national historical and cultural city with a history of 2,300 as a city. It is the birthplace of one dynasty in which two generations of emperors were born. Shenyang was given the title of “National Environmental Protection Model City”, “National Forest City” as well as “National Garden City”.
Situated in the center of ancient city of Ming and Qing Dynasties in Shenyang city, Shenyang Palace Museum (沈阳故宫) is the former imperial palace of the early Qing Dynasty of China. It is one of the two well-preserved ancient palace complexes in China at present (the other one is the Forbidden City in Beijing).
Zhaoling Tomb (昭陵), situated in Beiling Park, the largest part in Shenyang, is the mausoleum of Emperor Taizong (Huang Taiji) of Qing Dynasty and his queen, Bo’er Jijite. It is also called Beiling as it lies in the northern part of Shenyang city. In 2004, Shenyang Zhaoling was put on the World Heritage List.
Fuling Tomb (福陵) is situated in the eastern suburb of Shenyang, so it is also named Dongling (East Tomb). It is the mausoleum of Nurhachi, the founder of Qing Dynasty, and his queen. With a history of more than 360 years, works on the tomb began in 1629 and accomplished basically in 1651.
Liaoning Provincial Museum (辽宁省博物馆), established in 1949, is the first museum in new China. Its original location was in No.26, Shiwei Road, Heping District, Shenyang City, where was the former official residence of Yulin Tang, the leader of Feng warlord. In July, 2003, it moved to a new, specially-designed building on the east side of Government Square.
Shenyang Qipanshan Ice and Snow World (沈阳棋盘山冰雪大世界) is in Qipanshan Scenic Spot in the northeastern part of Shenyang, about 17 km from downtown. Occupying an area of 500,000 square kilometers, it is a typical North Country scene with rolling hills, large ice surface and thick wood.
Shenyang International Horticultural Expo Garden (沈阳世博园) is constructed for the International Horticultural Exposition in 2006. Situated in Qipanshan international tourist zone, Shenyang, the garden occupies an area of 246 hectares composed of 53 Domestic Gardens, 23 International Trade and Exhibition Gardens and 24 Special Fair Gardens.
Situated in South Wanghua Street, Dadong District, Shenyang, 918 historical museum (沈阳918博物馆) is built to remind people of the 918 incident. On 18th, September, 1931, the city of Shenyang fell under Japanese occupation.
