History: More than one million years ago, about in Old Stone Age, our ancestor began to live here. As early as A.D.351, Qing Dynasty built city, which was the earliest formation of Shangluo. At that time, it was the terra of Shangyang. The development of Shangluo reached to top in Tang Dynasty. In May, 1949, after the liberation, Shangluo was authorized as a county-level and in June, 1988, was advanced to a citiy.
Climate: Shangluo has a monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate with cool, dry winter and hot, humid summer. The annual mean temperature is 12.79℃, while the monthly 24-hour average temperature ranges from 0.5℃ in January to 24.4℃ in July. The sunshine hours is about 2,000 hours. The frost-free period lasts 200 days.
Transportation: Air-Shangluo Airport is under construction.
Railway- Xian-Ankang Railway as well as Hengyang-Hejiangtao Railway pass through the center of Shangluo city. Trains from Xian to Shenzhen, Shangnan to Xian and Xian to Ningbo could be available.
Highway-State Road 312,210,307,203 get junction here. Two long-distance bus stations travel passengers to Xian, Xianyang, Wennan etc.

Otherwise, Niubeiliang National Nature Preserve is the famous scenic spot and health and summer resort.
Golden-thread Valley National Forest Park- Golden-thread Valley National Forest Park (金丝大峡谷国家森林公园) is 20.5kilometers long, composed of Whitel Dragon Valley, Blueness Dragon Valley, Black Dragon Valley and Stone Swallow Village.
