History: The County’s name “Qiongzhong” means the center of Hainan Island. In Ming and Qing Dynasty, Qiongzhong belonged to Ding’an County. In February 1948, the Qiongya Communist recorders set Qiongzhong County and it is under the jurisdiction of the CPC Qiongya Eastern prefectural. In March 1949, it was incorporated into the Administrative Committee of Qiongya minority autonomous regions.
On November 20, 1987, the State Council approved the revocation Qiongzhong County and established Qiongzhong Li and Miao Autonomous County and it was placed under the jurisdiction of the Hainan administrative region. On April 1988 Hainan Province was established. Then Qiongzhong Li and Miao Autonomous County was under the jurisdiction of Hainan Province directly.

Attractions: Baihua Ridge Waterfall(百花岭瀑布) is a fascinating scenic spot in the hinterland of Wuzhishan mountain. Baihua Ridge scenic tourist area covers several kilometers. Peaks and ridges are overlapping and stretching while ancient trees are towering straight. The peak elevation of Baihua Ridge is more than 1100 meters high. Baihua Ridge Waterfall has the largest water drop in Hainan Province. The waterfall is shrouded in smoke and fog; the scenery is strange and spectacular.
