History: Ordos has a history of more than 35,000 years. Hetao Man was the earliest tribe multiplied in this region, who created the famous Hetao Culture. During Qin Dynasty, shires and counties were set up along the region. Qing Government divided Ordos into 6 shires in 1649. Until the found of People’s Republic of China, Ordos was formally established.
Climate: Ordos city is in the north temperate zone with a Semi-arid continental climate. The annual average temperature is 6.2℃ with the highest daily temperature of 38℃and the lowest of -31.4℃. The annual precipitation is 300 to 400 mm in the eastern part of the prefecture, and 190 to 350 mm in the western part.
Transportation: Air-Ordos Airport is in the Buertaige countryside, Ejin Horo Banner. Nowadays, scheduled flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, Shenzhen, Hohhot, Sanya, Zhengzhou, Chengdu etc have been put into operation.
Railway-Ordos is one of the most important railway networks in northwestern China. Many railways pass through the city such as Dazhun Railway, Zhundong Railway, Dongwu Railway, Baoshen Railway and Baoxi Railway. Dongsheng Railway Station is in charge of the transport of passengers.
Highway- The highway is developed in Ordos. Two tolled expressways, the G18 Rongcheng-Wuhai Eapress and the G65 Baotou-Maoming Expressway, provide connections with other towns and cities including Dongsheng.

Attractions: the Mausoleum of Genghis Khan-The Mausoleum of Genghis Khan is situated along a river near Ejen Khoruu Banner of Ordos. Covering an area of 50,000 square, the mausoleum is juat a cenotaph, where it contains no body, but only headdress and accessories. The mausoleum has been listed as a national heritage.
Resonant Sand Gorge – Resonant Sand Gorge with the mean of “dune with bugle” in Mongolian” features for its grand desert scenic spot. It lies to the north edge of the Kubuqi Desert, about 400 meters wide and 110 meters high. When tourists slide from top to down by cable car in the dry day, you will hear “thunder” from the dune, as the cry of frog lightly or as the roar of the plane and autocar heavily, even like an insurgent sinfonia.
