Location: Nyingchi(林芝) whose ancient name is “Gong Bu”, a region of the Tibet Autonomous Region. Nyingchi is a Tibetan word for "mother's family's throne or the sun's throne." Located in the southeastern part of the Tibet Autonomous Region, the regional government is located in Bayi Town in Nyingchi County. Nyingchi is located in the backward position of Brahmaputra River.

History: In the 1970s, a number of Neolithic human remains and tombs were found by the side of Niyang River. Archaeological research showed that long before the 4000-5000 years, mankind has been engaged in slash and burn agriculture in Nyingchi and had a relatively settled life.
The earliest written records of Nyingchi in history was found engraved on the cliff stone in Gong Bu. The stone is located in Nyingchi District Yong Chung County village, facing southwest. It has a history of more than 1,200 years and the writing is still clear.
In May 1951, Tibet was peaceful liberated. In 1959, Tibet began to put democratic reform into effect. In January 1960, to set up the Tagong agency. In the same year in February, Tibet set up Nyingchi prefecture and the agency was located in Nyingchi County.
Climate: The average elevation is 3100 meters in Nyingchi. Nyingchi annual rainfall is about 650 mm, with an average annual temperature of 8.7 ℃. The average annual sunshine is 2000 hours and frost-free period is 180 days. Nyingchi has fertile land and abundant resources. The average winter temperatures in Nyingchi is above zero degrees Celsius, the average summer temperature is 16 degrees Celsius. Four seasons are distributed obviously while "summer is not heat and winter is not cold." But when the rainy season from May to September comes every year, heavy rainfall will lead to landslides, mudslides and other natural disasters. To walk through the valley between the southeastern Tibet highway traffic may cause great threat during those seasons.
Transportation: Air- Nyingchi has its own airport - Nyingchi Millington Airport, located in Tibet Nyingchi Milin County. Nyingchi Bayi Town, the capital of about 40 kilometers is in its north direction. It has opened flights to Chongqing, Chengdu and Lhasa.
Highway- Bus ride is more recommended to Nyingchi transportation, general car to Bayi Town, Bayi Town is the most important transport hub in Nyingchi Area. Bus Station in the eastern suburbs of Lhasa to Bayi Town.

Attractions: Brahmaputra Grand Canyon (雅鲁藏布大峡谷) located in the downstream of Brahmaputra River is the deepest canyon on Earth. There are four rare great falls group on the core uninhabited river canyon riverbed of the Grand Canyon. Some of the main waterfall drop is in 30-50 meters. The canyon has nine vertical belts ranging from mountain snow and ice to low valley tropical monsoon forests.
