Location: Nagqu County(那曲县), under the Nagqu area, it is northern Tibet's political, economic, cultural, transportation, information and communications center. Nagqu is Located in the north of the Tibet Autonomous Region, between Tanggula Mountain and Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains.

History: In the 16 years of Qianlong (1752 AD), Qing dynasty quelled the Gyumey Fazal event. Later in Nagqu, the central government established the first cases of northern Tibet – Kan Nang cases, subordinate to the jurisdiction of the Tibetan Kashag local government.
In thirty years of the republic of China(1942), the Kashag Government set up an office, governed Northern Tibet and 14 cases in the north of Lhasa, Nagqu cases (Hom sac cases) is one of them.
In October 1956, the Preparatory Committee for the establishment of the autonomous region set Ji Qiao office in Nagqu. Nagqu cases wereunder the jurisdiction of Nagqu Ji Qiao Office. In October 1959, Nagqu County People's Government was set up.
In January 1960, the State Council approved the Tibet "Heihe region" was renamed "Nagqu Region." On November 3, 1965, the State Council officially approved the “Heihe County” renamed "Nagqu County."
Climate: Nagqu County belongs to plateau sub-humid tropical monsoon climate zone. The average altitude is 4,500 meters. As the altitude is high, Nagqu is cold and short of oxygen. The windy days throughout the year is about 100 days and the annual average temperature of -2.2 ℃. When it comes to the coldest days, it can reach up to thirty or forty degrees below zero. The annual sunshine time is more than 2886 hours. From May to September, the climate is relatively warm and annual rainfall 400 mm or more. There is no absolute annual frost-free period, between October and May each year is snow and soil freeze period. From June to August is growing seasons.
Transportation: Highway- Transportation of Nagqu is relatively convenient in Tibet. The state road No. 109 and No. 317 intersects here.
Railway- Qinghai-Tibet Railway has set Nagqu Station. As a result, tourists can go to Nagqu by train.
Air- Nagqu airport will soon start construction. Nagqu will form a complete transportation system.

Attractions: Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains(念青唐古拉山) is located in the north of Lhasa and Lake Nam is on its north side. The highest elevation of the peak is7117 meters. The mountain is year-round snowy and misty, thunderous and lightning. Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains is one of the major mountains in China's Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The mountain runs through the east and center of Tibet and it is the east continuity of Gangdise Mountains.
