History: The history of Linfen could be traced back to 4000 years ago. It is one of the birthplace of the Chinese nation. Linfen, with ancient civilization and splendid culture, is one of the cradles of the Chinese civilization. Linfen, with its fertile land, temperate climate, rich products, is one of the cotton and wheat bases in Shanxi Province.
Climate: Linfen enjoys a continental monsoon-influenced semi-arid climate with cold winter and hot summer. The annual average temperature is 12.6℃. The annual precipitation stands at 470 millimetres (18.5 in), with close to 70% of this total falling from June to September. The frost-free period lasts on average 190 days per year. Extreme temperatures have ranged from -22.5°C to 40.5 °C.

Railway-Linfen Railway Station is in the northeast of Lingen city. It offers trains to Beijng, Xian, Taiyuan ,Shijiazhuang, Tianjin etc.
Highway-108National Road, 309 National Road and Jin-Han Road get through Linfen city. Long-distance Buses to Taiyuan, Xian, Yuncheng and so on are available.

Attractions: Hukou Waterfall- It is named Hukou (A mouth of teapot), because the ranging in torrents fall into a chasm like water pouring out from a teapot. According to geologists, the waterfall extends upward called the headward erosion. Tourists can hear loud sound from afar. When they come close, they can see the Chinese character of Hukou in the front, mother river in the left and National Spirit in the right.
Yao Temple- Yao Temple is the place for offering sacrifices to Yao and for Chinese to worship their common ancestors. It is second only to the tombs of the Yellow Emperor and Emperor Yan in prestige.
