Location: Liaoyuan(辽源) is a prefecture-level city in the south-central region of Jilin province, China, bounded on the west by Liaoning. Liaoyuan lies some 100 km (62 mi) southeast of Changchun, the provincial capital.

History: Liaoyuan involves a time-honored history. It was an imperial hunting ground during the Qing Dynasty(1644-1912), going by the name Shengjing Paddock. From 1949 to 1954 it was part of Liaodong Province. After 1954, Liaoyuan was put under Siping Prefecture's jurisdiction. Liaoyuan became a prefecture-level in 1983, administering two districts and two counties.
Since the city has not been subjected to heavy exploitation in the past, it maintained a great number of natural scenery and historic relics within the city. It is safe to say that the city is decorated with majestic mountains and lakes as well as humane relics that contribute to a vibrant city. The city is also esteemed as the hometown of Cervus Nippon, the hometown of Chinese Lute, and the hometown of Paintings of peasants.
Climate: Liaoyuan region involves a monsoon-influenced, semi-humid continental climate, with four distinct seasons. Spring usually lasts from March to May, during which the temperature is quite flighty, with frequently-visited heavy winds. Most rainfalls are concentrated in summer, from June to August, when most regions under the domination of southwest wind. After a short and fresh autumn, snows conveying the message of cooling will visit here, bringing the whole city into a dry and long-lasting winter.
Transportation: Railways- Liaoyuan Station was initially constructed in 1927 under the original name, “Xi’an (Capital of Shanxi Province) Station”, located in Longshan District, Liaoyuan. It has opened Simei line, Liaoyuan-Kaitong line, Changchun-Liaoyuan lines (under construction), and the project of Sisong Line and Liaochang Lines are also under formulation.
Highways- Liaoyuan has achieved a rapid speed over its highway construction as the second city in possession of a premium belt highway system in Jilin Province. There are currently Liaoyuan-Changchun line, Liaoyuan-Kaitong line, Yingdong line, Jishuang line and Shenyang-Jilin line within the city. It was esteemed by the civil government with the designation as “the Advanced City of Highway Planning”.

Hancongding National Park(寒葱顶国家森林公园), occupied an area of 7,840 Square kilometers, is located along the junction of Dongfeng Town, Liaoyuan. It was an imperial hunting ground during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), going by the name Shengjing Paddock. The landscape comprehends high and low mountain ranges,rolling country and plains.
