We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Laibin Travel Guide

Location: Laibin(来宾), a prefecture-level city, is located in the middle region of Guangxi, which is commonly referred to as “the center of Guangxi”. It borders Laibin and Liuzhou, Guilin and Hechi in the north, Wu Zhou, Guilin and Guigang in the east, Hechi and Nanning in the west and adjacent to Nanning and Guigang in the south.

History: The bones discovered in Mount Qilin, Laibin, verified that the ancestor of Laibin residents had been settled here since palaeolithic age 35 thousand years ago. After the unity of the Southern Range During Qin Dynasty, Laibin was divided into the area under the jurisdiction of Guilin Shire. In A.D.111 of Han Dynasty, Guilin County was established in the location of present Xiangzhou, a small town of Laibin, which is referred to as the beginning of the administrative power of Laibin. Subject to the challenge of dynamic history of Yuan, Ming, Qing and the Republican period, the city experienced several reformations, which generated in to a well-known city with reputations as the city of coal, the city of candy and the city of Yao Nationality. 

Climate: Laibin belongs to the region under subtropical climate with monsoon influence. The temperature here is moderate with ample sunshine and affluent precipitation annually, which benefit agriculture to a great extent. The annual mean temperature is around 18.1-21.2℃(64.58-70.16℉), and the precipitation is 1225-1942mm according to the estimation. The region enters into the season of rain from April to August, which is also visited by flooding. Jinxiu, a county located in mountainous region of Laibin, is featured with distinctive cool weather, owing to which the region is also regarded as the best summer resort.

Transportation: Railways- Laibin is connected by one railway lines, namely Line Hengyang-Youyi, with other domestic regions. Laibin Rialway Station is located in the No.84 Tiedao Road, Xinging District, Laibin, which is a First Class Station.

Highways- Laibin includes 4 coach stations, the bus departed from which contribute the relatively convenience transportation hub of the city, namely Wuchang Coach Station, Xincheng Coach Station, Xiang Zhou Coach Station, and Laibin Coach Station.

Local Specialties: While rice, sugar, peanut, tea and fruit bear great fame, there are also local specialties that are favored by residents, including honeysuckle, desmodium, kumquat, Gynostemma Herb, Arrow root and so forth.

Local Foods: Crispy cake with lotus seed paste fillings, Laibin silvery pomfret, Chinese sticky rice Wafer, Baozi Stuffed with BBQ Pork, Luoshi rice noodle, Roach Goose.

Attraction: Mount Shengtang (圣堂山)- Mount Shengtang, which refers to “the sacred palace” in Chinese, condenses the essence of nature of Mount Daraoshan. It includes 24 mountains which are covered by dark green. There are numerous streams radiated to the several directions, irrigated hundreds of thousands of farmlands. Therefore the region is referred to as the green reservoir. 7 mountains towering there, the elevation of which are all beyond 1600 meters, the highest peak named Man’an Peak. Set off by the ethereal cloud and frost, the scenery of the peak group appears with a sense of mystery. Relics from the Ice Age are still remained among the mountains and villages.

Mount Shengtang includes distinctive forestry scenery in which previous trees towering here. There are intersections of coniferous forest and deciduous forest, with precious trees including pinus parviflora, Podocarpus which solemnly stood on the cliff. Besides, beyond the elevation of 1500 kilometers grows 10 thousands of Azalea with breathtaking beauty and elegance. Every year in May, trees will be hued by the luxuriantly bloomed flowers with red, yellow, white. There are also numerous waterfalls flowing downward the cliff, some of which even measure a height of a few hundred meters. Besides, the spot is also a paradise of previous fowls and animals, which inhabits Forest musk deer, goats, silver pheasant, chrysolophus pictus and so forth. To sum, the overall spot is of great value for travelling.
