History: Jilong used to be named Chick Coop, where Ketakalan dwelled at the earliest. In 1875, the named was changed into Keelung. From 1626 to 1642, Keelung was took up by Dutch and Spain separately. In 1895, Japan occupied Taiwan and upgraded Keelung as city-level. In October, 1945, National Party took charge of Taiwan and established the municipal government on 11th, November.
Climate: Keelung features rainy and moist as the influence of humid subtropical climate, with an average of rainfall of 3,700 millimeters. It is one of the wettest cities in the world, as a result, it gets a nickname of “Rain Port”. Although it is in the exteme north of Taiwan, it is very hot in summer as the mountain keeps the southwest monsoon. Temperature can peek above 26℃ in a warm winter day, while it can dip below 27℃ curing a rainy summer day.

Attractions: Keelung Miaokou (基隆庙口)-The well-known Keelung Miaokou, close to Dianji Palace in Rensan Road, has a history of more than 40 years. The 400-meter long street assembles about 200 stails. Famous local snacks Dingbiacuo, tempura, meat soup, Oyster pancakes and braised pork rice have an abundant supply, furthermore at reasonable price.
Events: Keelung Ghost Festival (基笼中元祭), held in the seventh Lunar Month is the most grand sacrificial ceremony in local.
