We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Jiujiang Travel Guide

Location: Jiujiang (九江) is located in the north end of Jiangxi Province, covering an area of 11.3% of the overall land range of Jiangxi Province. It is adjacent Anhui Province in the east, bordering 4 counties in Hunan Province to the west and 2 counties in Hubei Province to the north.

History: Jiujiang was designated as administrative division initially since Han Dynasty (202 B.C. - 220 A.D.), named as “Chaisang” while after 201 A.D. it was renamed as Guanying City when Guanying, the general of chariot, dug wells and erected walls in an attempt to guard the city.

During the Three Kingdom period, the city was under the administration of Wu, belonging to Wuchang County. Jiujiang County was referred to as Dehua during Tang Dynasty in that it was a place for moral cultivation. It was again renamed as Jiujiang Prefecture in Ming and Qing Dynasty. After the subversion of monarchy in Xinhai Revolution, it was designated as Jiujiang City.

In modern time, located in the intersection of Changjiang and Jingjiu Economic Zones, the city has transferred into a central harbor in the middle course of Yangtze River, among the first 5 cities that was opened along the coast region, with a laudatory reputation as “the northern gate of Jiangxi Province”.

Climate: Upon the region subjected to subtropical climate, the annual mean temperature in Jiujiang is appromately 16-17℃(60.8-62.6℉), with a precipitation of 1300-1600 mm annually, 40% of which is concentrated on the second quarter of a year. The foggy weather is infrequent within the region. Jiujiang is endowed with a long spring, whereas the weather is characterized with a flighty feature, since the warm and chilly wind alternates quickly. The mould rain will dominate the period during June and July, and under the influence of subtropical anticyclone, the climate appears sunny and dry. The city includes a period of 20 high-temperature days in summer, while rather cool in autumn. The winter in Jiujiang is striking warmer compared with that in Beijing.

Transportation: Airways- The Lushan Airport is located in the southern region of Jiujiang, 33 kilometers away from the urban region, merely 9.8 kilometers away from the south gate of Mt. Lu. The Airport served for air traffic in 1996, which was available to most capital cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’an, Guangzhou, Shamen, Hangzhou, Chengdu and so forth.

Highways- Jiujiang Station is situated on Changhong Street, Lushan District. After the opening of traffic of Jiujiang-Yangtze Bridge, the highway and railway has received rapid growth, with essential lines running across the station, including Line Beijing-Jiujiang, Line Wuhan-Jiujiang, Line Hefei-Jiujiang, Line Tongling (Anhui Province)-Jiujiang, etc.

Changjiu Intercity Road links Jiujiang Station with Nanchang North Station, and motor car lines are connected with Ling Beijing-Jiujiang, directed to Nanchang Station.

Line Wuchang-Jiujiang is departed from Wuchang to Jiujiang 180 kilometers away, via Ezhou, Huangshi, Daye, Yangxin and Ruichang, with a speed as high as 250 km/h.

There are 10 coach stations within the city recently, with 2 national highways, namely G105 and G316. Over 50 public transportation lines are available for inner trip.

Highways including G70 Fujian-Yinchuan, G56 Hangzhou-Ruili, Line Jiujiang-Ruili, Line Daqing-Guangzhou, Line Yongxiu-Wuning, Line Hukou-Pengze are also intersected within the city,

Waterways- As the mere port for foreign trade in Jiangxi Province, there have been great innovations introduced since the designation by the State Council. By the end of Chenjiang Conference in 2008, the city was authorized as the harbor opened up to Taiwan Province with direct airlines. In 2009, Chengxi Harbor in Jiujiang, subordinated to Shanggang company, was opened to water transport.

Events: Mount Lu Three-Layer Fall Drifting(庐山三叠泉漂流)- Three-layer Fall is located in the ancient village oif Mount Lu, the national forestry park, which measures 2.8 kilometers in length, costing 90 minutes to complete the overall experience. The drifting scenery is endowed with a distinctive combination of luxuriant ancient forest as well as natural village, which is indeed a minimum museum of amazing nature including fall, forest, abyss, strange stones, precious flora and fauna, sands together. Be brave enough to challenge the wildness of nature in your extraordinary drifting trip!

Ban Dragon Light (板龙灯)- The structure of the dragon is made from colored paper with bamboo bones, the body of which is of flower and light, as there are two lanterns on each section, and 100 sections made up of the total dragon lantern. Leading by the initial lantern, a series of position is revealed with the movement of each staff. Added with the sound of firework and percussion, the dragon lantern is indeed of magnificent appearance that pushes the atmosphere to the highest peak.
