History: From time immemorial, Hsinchu city has always been the local administrative center. After the science-based industrial park established, Hsinchu became the important technological town with a nickname of Taiwan Silicon Valley. It is also the cultural ancient city of Taiwan with profound culture and history.
Climate: Lied in the north of Taiwan Trail, Hsinchu bears northeast wind for a longer time. The annual average temperature is 21.9℃, in balance with Taipei. It has an annual rainfall of 1733.2mm, approximately 138 days.
Transportation: Railway-Keelung-Kaohsiung Railway passes through Hsinchu city.
Taiwan High-speed Hsinchu Railway Station is 10 kilometers from Hsinchu downtown, servicing trains to Hsinchu city and Hsinchu county and north central of Miaoli county.
Highway- Zhongshan Highway and Formosa Highway meet at the south side of Hsinchu city, connecting Guangfu Road, Gongdao Road, Zhonghua Road, as well as Qiedong Viewing Avenue. It is about one hour’s drive to Taipei and Taichung.
Local Food: Hsinchu is the headquarter of Hakka cuisine with the flavor of sour, greasy, salty and fragrant. Chicken, duck and goose are common materials.
Hsinchu rice noodle is very popular for its unique taste.
Attractions: Hsinchu Railway Station-Hsinchu Railway Station with the longest history(新竹火车站) has been listed as a class historic site. It is one of railway station with the highest architectural and article evaluation.
Qingquan Tribe- Qingquan Tribe (清泉部落) is the tribe of Taiyal people. It was famous for the spring during the Japanese rule period.
