History: As early as Shangu Age, Dazhou belongs to Badi and under the administrate of Shang Dynasty with the name of Yongzhou in Yin and Shang Dynasties. As early as Shanggu Period, Eastern Han Xuanhan County was set up.
Climate: Dazhou belongs to a subtropical humid monsoon climate. The regional climate has great difference due to the complicated terrain. The climate of low hills or river valleys with the altitude lower than 800 meters is temperate and the free-frost period lasts longer. Mountains with altitude between 800-1000 meters are cool. Owing to the inadequate sunshine, the region over 1,000 meters has long cold period. The annual average temperature ranges between 14.7-17.6℃ and the free-frost period lasts for 300 days.
Transportation: Air- Dazhou Heshi Airport is about 12 km southwest of Dazhou downtown. The round-trip airlines to Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Kunming are available at present.

Railway-Xiangyang- Chongqing Railway runs through Dazhou from north to south.
Highway-National Road 210, 318, 347, 542 get throughout Dazhou. Dazhou-Chongqing Highway has been put into operated in 20th, June, 2004. Dazhou-Bazhong Highway was open to traffic on 28th, December, 2013, being the important passage way to Gansu Province, Shaanxi Province, northeast part of Sichuan Province, etc.
Local Food: Translucent Beef Slices –Translucent Beef Slices is named “Dengying Beef” in Chinese. Just as its name implies, the beef slice is thin enough to see the shadow of lights.
Attractions: Bailixia Scenic Spot –Situated in Xuanhan County, south foot of Mountain Daba, East of Sichuan Province, Bailixia (百里峡) is a 3A state-level scenic spot. Bailixia covers an area of 105 square kilometers, making up of Bailixia and Jiangkou Lake. Bailixia is highly reputed for its majestic, steepy, peculiar and beautiful.
Batai Mountain-Batai Mountain (八台山), in the eastern part of Batai county, got the name bacause it is as high as eight floors.
