History: Chizhou has a history of more than 1,400 years. It was first set as a prefecture in Tang Dynasty and fell into a pattern in Ming Dynasty. From Tang Dynasty to Song Dynasty, many refined scholars left marvelous poems for its graceful scenery. In August, 1988, Chizhou upgraded into a prefecture-level city administrating four county-level divisions such as Guichi city, Dongzhi county, Shidai county and Qingyang county.
Climate: Under the influence of subtropical monsoon climate, Chizhou has temperate weather, distinctive seasons, sufficient rainfall as well as abundant sunshine. It has an annual average temperature of 16.5℃. The annual average rainfall is 1400-2200mm. The percentage of annual mean sunshine could reach to 45%. The annual mean frost-free period lasts for 220 days.
Transportation: Air-Jiuhuashan Airport is about 20km from Chizhou city, Tongling city and Jiuhuashan Scenic Spot. It was put into operation in 29th, July, 2013. Until now, the airline to Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu has been serviced.
Railway-Tongling-Chizhou-Jiujiang section has been opened. The line starts from Nanjing South Station via Banqiao, Jiangning, Wuhu, Tongling, Chizhou and end with Anqing.
Highway-National Road 318, 206, Jiqi Highway, Luyu Highway, together with Jiguang Highway run through the city.
Waterway-Chizhou Port has 17 berthes. The carriage of export trade has been the first for 5 years continuously.
