Location: Chiaya (嘉义) is a city in the southwest of Taiwan and situated in the north of Jianan plain.

Nationalities: Chiayi is the centrally of Pingpu people.
History: Taiwan was first inhabited by the Hoanya aborigines, and the region was named Tirosen. In 1661, Zheng Chenggong drove out Dutchman, set up Chengtian prefecture, Tianxing county and Wannian County. At that time, Chiayi is under the jurisdiction of Tianxing County. In 1885 (the 11th year of Guangxu), Taiwan was approved to be a province and was divided as three sub-province, one direct county, eleven counties and three bureaus. Chiayi belonged to Taiwan sub-province and the hall was still in Chiayi. In 1930, Chiayi was upgraded into Chiayi city.
Climate: Chiayi is under the influence of subtropical monsoon climate. Its annual average temperature is 22.6℃. Typhoon often makes a surprise attack during July and September. It has an annual average rainfall of 1696.9 mm.
Transportation: Airport-Chiayi Shuishang Airport provides direct airlines to Songshan, Hualian, Magong, and Jinmen.
Railway- Super Band railway passes through Chiayi downtown.
Highway- Taiwan bus passenger or Tonglian bus passenger offer buses to Chiayi from countries in western Taiwan.
Local Food: Bamboo rice is very common in local Tsou people.
Chiayi is also the hometown of Chicken rice.
Attraction: Chiayi Confucius Temple-Chiayi Confucius Temple (嘉义孔庙) was firstly built in 1706 (the 45th of Kangxi Emperor), in the outside of West Gate. In 1753 was reconstructed in province hospital, Wenhua Road. It was once destroyed in 29th of Mingzhi Emperor in a result of an earthquake. Until 1964, the Confucius Temple was completed and the Confucian Tablet was returned to Dacheng Hall.
