We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Changjiang Travel Guide

Location: Changjiang Li Autonomous County (昌江黎族自治县) is located in the northwest of Hainan, beside the mountain and near the sea. It is known as the hometown of mango in China.

Population: 240,000

Area: 1,569 square kilometers

Nationalities: Li, Miao and Han

History: In 110 BC, the western Han Dynasty set Zhuya Prefecture and Dan’er Prefecture on Hainan Island and the two prefectures were in charge of three counties: Dan’er County, Zhilai County and Jiulong County. Zhilai County is Today’s Changjiang County.

In 607 AD, the Sui Government renamed Yazhou to Zhuya prefecture and divided into three counties: Yilun County, Changhua County and Ji’an County. In the thirtieth year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu, Yazhou was directly under the central government and Changhua County was in the Charge of Yazhou.

In third year of the Republic of China (1914), Changhua County was renamed the Changjiang County and it was within the jurisdiction of the Guangdong Province. On May 30, 1950, Changjiang County and Gan’en County were liberated and Changgan government was established. On 20 November 1987, the State Council approved the revocation of Changjiang County and established Changjiang Li Autonomous County.

Climate: Changjiang County has a typical tropical monsoon climate and the annual average temperature is 24.3 degrees Celsius. The annual average hours of sunshine ranges from 2000 to 2600. The average annual rainfall is 1395 mm; the smallest annual rainfall is 902 mm and the largest annual rainfall is 1805 mm. From May to October every year is the rainy and typhoon season and the rainfall accounted for 90% of annual rainfall. The drought season is from November to next April.

Transportation: Railway- There are two railway stations in Changjiang County, Shilu Station and Chahe station. The two stations are used to transport both passengers and cargoes.

Highway- Getting around within the county mainly depends on highway as the highway extends in all direction. There are buses linked all the towns together thus making your trip rather convenient.

Waterway- The main harbor in Changjiang County are: Changhua Harbor, Haiwei Harbor, The new Harbor and Shayutang harbor. The Changhua Harbor is the main harbor for commerce.

Specialties: honey and earthenware

Local Food: milk goat, mango and seafood

Attractions: Seven star bird's nest ridge(七星燕窝岭) is located in the center of Changjiang Li Autonomous County. The main peak is about 487 meters high. Changhua River is in front of the ridge and Seven Star Springs is behind the ridge. Various tropical plants are growing on the ridge, thus making the whole ridge lush and vibrant.
