History: as one of the cradle of Chinese culture, Bozhou has a history of more than 5,000 years. In 1368, Bo Prefecture was downgraded in status and became a county. In 1496, it was again upgraded to a prefecture then later lowered to a county in 1912 when it became Bo County. In May 1986, it was upgraded to a county-level city administered by the Fuyang Region. It was upgraded to a provincially directly administered city in 1996.
Climate: Bozhou enjoys a temperate monsoon climate featuring four distinctive seasons. With an annual average temperature of 14.7℃, its monthly average temperature ranges from 0.6℃ in January to 27.3℃ in August. It has temperate spring, rainy summer, cool autumn and dry winter. The annual rainfall could reach 822 mm.
Transportation: Railway- Beijing-Jiulong Railway, Xufu Railway, Bosu Railway, Yubo Railway At present, Bozhou Railway Station and Guoyang Railway Station are in use. Bozhou South Railway Station is still under construction.
Highway-State Road 311, 105 and 307 runs through the city. Several highways pass through Bozhou including Jinan-Guangzhou Highway, Nanjing-Luoyang Highway, Xuchang-Bozhou Highway, Suzhou-Yongcheng-Bozhou Highway, as well as Jining-Qimen Highway.
Waterway- Bozhou established Bozhou Dasi Port, Guoyang Port, Mengcheng Port, Xili Port and so on.
Local Specialties: Bozhou is the hometown of Huatuo, a celebrity in Medical. It is highly reputed as the capital of medicine.

Attractions: Hua Xi Lou Ancient Theatre-Hua Xi Lou Theatre (花戏楼), 4A tourist scenic pot, is a traditional Chinese opera theatre built in Qing Dynasty. Covering an area of 3163.1 square meters, the construction is oriented north and south. Hua Xi Lou Ancient Theatre has been listed as the National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units due to its traditional brick sculpture, wood sculpture and colorful pattern.
