History: The name “Baoting” came from “Baoting department” in Ming Dynasty and it was renamed Baoting Camp in Qing Dynasty. In 24 years (1935) of the Republic of China, the Guangdong provincial government decided to set up Baoting County.
On February 11, 1948, Baoting County was liberated. On April 16, Baoting County established a democratic government and the government resided in Baocheng Town.
In 1987, Baoting Li and Miao Autonomous County was established. The county set up six towns, 3 villages, four state-run agriculture (tea) farm and a tropical crop field research station.
Climate: Baoting County belongs to tropical monsoon climate zone, so it has rich heat and abundant rainfall. The annual rainfall is 2000-2300 mm and the annual average temperature between 20.7 ℃ -24.5 ℃. Broadly speaking, Baoting County has a pleasant climate.

Attractions: Qixian ridge hot springs(七仙岭温泉) National Forest Park is located at the foot of a basin in Qixian Ridge, Baoting County. It is a popular tourist resort on Hainan Island. Qixian Ridge enjoys a tropical monsoon climate with abundant rainfall. The annual average temperature is about 23 ℃. The climate is fairly warm in winter and rather cool in summer. The negative oxygen ions here is up to 8200 / cc, so the whole forest park is like a natural "oxygen bar."
