History: Anqing city was originally built in South Song Dynasty and the name of “Anqing” appeared at that time with the moral of “safety and auspicious”. From 1760 to 1937, Anqing was the provincial capital of Anhui Province. After the founding of the people’s republic of China, Anqing was independent as a city.
Climate: Under the influence of the subtropical humid monsoon, Anqing has a temperate climate and four distinctive seasons. The winter is chilly and damp, while the summer is very hot and humid. The temperature in winter can drop below freezing under the influence of cold northwesterly wind from Siberia and in summer, the temperature can reach up 35℃. Its annual mean temperature is 16.76℃. Precipitation tends to a maximum in Meiyu Period.
Transportation: Air-Anqing Tianzhushan Airport has opened airline to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Wuhan, Haikou and so on.
Railway- Hefei-Jiujiang Railway runs through Anqing, linking Anqing with Shanghai, Beijing, Hefei, Bangbu, Huangmei, etc.
Highway-Shanghai-Chongqing Highway, Jinan-Guangzhou Highway, Beijing-Taipei Highway, Yuexi-Wuhan Highway, State Road 105, 206, 318 meet at Anqing City.

Attractions: Tianzhu Mountain-Tianzhu Montian (天柱山 ) in Anqing City, is located at the joint place of Dabie Mountain and the Middle-Lower Yangtze Plain. With an area of 333sqaure kilometers, Tianzhu Mountain consists of 45 peaks, 17 ridges, 18 cliffs, 22 caves, 86 grotesque rocks, 18 waterfall and 17 springs. The highest peak —Tianzhu Peak (1,488.4 meters above sea level)—rises high into the clouds, just like a pillar holding up the sky, hence the name Tianzhu (Heavenly Pillar) Mountain.
Zhang Liang Temple- Zhang Liang was one of the “three talents in the Han Dynasty”, who retired from state affairs and lived the life of a reluse in Pigu. Zhang Liang Temple (张良庙) is the only temple built on the instruction of the emperor, in AD 263. Some 40 years before the temple in Chengdu was built. It is now known as the "Number One Memorial Temple Under Heaven". It is a major relic under provincial protection.
