No need for reserving your cruise tickets and just go there to buy the tickts on the spot.

The cruise port is located to the south of the Bund. Just try to get to the Bund, then walk along the river bank to the sourth and in about 10 minutes, you will see the Cruise Wharf.

  6. Helllo Lan,

As for the entrance to the cruise, just go to the Bund ( I think you know where the Bund is ). On to the Bund, then walk to the south ( Facing the Pudong Skyline, you walk on your right hand). In 10 – 15 minutes, you will see the dock for the cruise. Just follow the English sign, you will find the ticketing office. Have a good trip!

  7. Hello Kenneth Wilson,

Basically, no need for reservation upfront. Just go there and buy your tickets. They prefer cash, so be ready for some Chinese currency. Have a good time!

  9. Hdllo Minoo,

You may take subway line 2. Your nearest metro station is called Lujiazui (陆家嘴). You take the metro line 2 from the station of Lujiazui to the west direction and get off at the next station of East Nanjing Road ( 南京东路). Then you walk along Nanjing East Road to the east direction. Soon you will come cross the Bund. You walk along the Bund to the south direction, soon you will the see the cruise whawf. You go to the ticketing office to buy your boating ticket. No big difference as for which ship you should take and most of them offer the similar service.

  10. Dear Madame/Sir,

I am an executive MBA student at IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland. I am taking the liberty to contact you because one of the characteristics of our EMBA program is that the cases we work on are related to the real world, and prior to a “discovery expedition” to China the team I am part of has been asked to prepare a presentation on (theoretical) foreign direct investments opportunities in the Chinese recreational cruise industry.

We have been reading about the industry, done some analysis and discussed a number of potential investment opportunities between ourselves. However none of the team members has experience in the cruise industry and we have realized that we have too many “blind spots” to conclude what opportunities we should short list for further analysis prior to the trip to China in April.

One of the opportunities we are considering is about recreational cruises with gourmet dining in Chinese towns by the sea or crossed by rivers, inspired by the model of the bateaux mouches in Paris.
Tour-bejing is one of the leading travel companies operating in China. I was wondering if you could suggest any contacts at your company who would be willing to share with us their input on industry trends, and more specifically on investment opportunities in Shanghai and China, as well as applicable regulations.
We would be looking for 30 min phone interview, or even input via email, prior to Apr 18th. I kindly ask you to revert to me latest on April 4th 2014 with your suggestions and I will subsequently propose a number of timeslots for such a call.

The opportunity to meet with someone from the Shainghai river cruise company on April 22nd would be an additional honor for us.

Thanking you in advance for your help, I send my best regards.

  11. Hello Gloria Cipressini,

Thanks for your post! Awfully sorry, we are just a travel agency and nobody from our tour company is capable of offering any constructive suggestions about foreign direct investments opportunities in the Chinese recreational cruise industry.

Only one humble suggestion: while you are thinking of inspecting the cruise industry in Shanghai, we suggest you may also collect some practical informtion about Yangtze River Cruise in China for any possible investment. See Yangtze River Cruise: http://www.tour-beijing.com/yangtze/

    Have a good luck!

  12. i am staying at Slavo hotel. i would like to go huangpo river 1 hour cruise. how do i go there? should i take a train or it is within walking distance?? thank uou

  13. Hello Sasa,

I think your hotel is called “Shanghai Salvo Hotel” instead of Slavo Hotel. If you stay at Salvo Hotel, the Huangpu Cruise Wharf is within a walking distance from your hotel. Just walk to the Bund and walk along the Bund down to the south ( for about 20-30 minuets, you will see an underground cruising booking center. Just line up and buy your ticket for the cruising. Have a good trip!

  15. Hello Leong,

Suggest you take a taxi from your hotel to Huangpu River Cruise Ticketing Center which is located at Shiliupu Wharf, on Zhongshan South Road ( just walk from the Bund down south, you will see the ticketing office. The cruise tickets costs about RMB 100 for one hour cruise.

The 6.7 km taxi ride from your hotel to the ticketing office costs about RMB 25.

  18. Hello Sani,

The Bund is about 6 km to the northeast of your hotel. You may take bus No.17. First walk 80 meters to the nearest Bus Stop of Dapuqiao (打浦桥), and get off at the 9th stop of Hankou Road ( Jiangxi MiddleRoad )江西中路汉口路站, walk 470 meters to the Bund.

Or you may take a taxi to the Bund from your hotel and taxi fare about RMB 25.

  19. Hello Sani,

The River Cruise Wharf is on the south of the Bund. Just walk along the Bund in the south direction, you will see the cruise area.

  27. Hi,

We are looking to book a night cruise for this August. We will be staying at the Narada Hotel, No.171, Zhongshan Nan Lu, Shanghai. Please advise how to get there from the hotel. What time will it be best to go for the night tour? We will need to return to the hotel at night so we need to make sure that we could get the bus/train back at night.
    Thank you in advance,
    Iliana

  28. Hi Iliana,

It is very convenient for you to get from your hotel to Shanghai Shiliupu Wharf ( cruise ticket booking also ). Just walk along Zhongshan Nan Lu in the north direction. In 10 minutes ( 680 meters ), you will get to the wharf on your right hand ( Huangpu River ).

  29. Thank you for the reply. So there is not a need to get the transportation, isn’t it?Cause when I put in on the google maps it showed that we will need to walk 45minutes.
    Thanks again.

  30. I will be staying at Yitel Hotel Chuansha Branch., East Huaxia Rd. Can you tell me what is the best way to get to the ticket office and is there a buffet dinner avail on board and how much ?

  31. Hi Angie,

Try to get to the Bund. Then walk from the Bund along the promenade, you will see the cruise ticket office.Using public transport from your hotel to the ticket office is a bit tricky. Taxi fare about 30km ( 95 yuan ).

  32. Hullo,

I would like to know about the cost of a private booking for an 80 pax for a drinks reception in the evening.
Duration would be roughly 1-2 hours.

Please let me know the details, thanks.

  33. Hi Elise,

Thanks for your inquiry! Your request has been sent to our service center. One of our staff members will contact you later today. Much appreciated for your patience!

  34. Can you tell me how I can get from Hanzhong Road Station to the wharf and what is the cost by metro vs taxi fare.

  35. Hi Angie,

    1. Taxi
Hanzhong Road Metro Station – Shiliupu Wharf: about 7 km and 25 yuan taxi fare.

    2. Metro
Take metro line 1 from Hanzhong to People’ Square, interchange for metro line 2 and get off at the station of East Nanjing Road, then walk to the Bund, and further south to the Wharf, a bit tricky. It is advisable to take a taxi.

  36. If I purchase the hop-in hop-off ticket, is it true that there is a 1.5 hours FREE huangpu cruise?

  37. I will be arriving in Shanghai the day before my friends. Would I be able to purchase tickets on a Wednesday for a Thursday evening river cruise or do they have to be used on the same day?

If I can do that, do I book a specific timed sailing or would we just wait for the next available cruise?

  38. Dear Mark Abrahams,

As far as I know, they just sell the tickets on the same day. Come to the cruise port earlier for ticket booking.

There are some ticket booking websites where you can book online in advance, but most of these kinds of websites are in Chinese.

Just take patience lining up for the tickets. No worry and take it easy. Have a nice time!

  39. Hi
We’ll be staying at Green tree inn wujiaochang, how do we commute to the wharf for the huangpu river cruise? Also what will it cost us to take the cruise ride for 3 people?

    Thanking in anticipating!

  40. Dear Pratibha,

    1. Commute to the wharf
First you walk about 1.1 km from your hotel to the subway station of Wujiaochang ( 五角场)of Subway Line 10 and take the subway in the direction of Shanghai Train Station and get off at the 9th station of Yuyuan Garden ( 豫园), exit from Exit 1 and walk about 1.3km to the wharf ( east of the subway station ).

    2. The cruise ride for 3 people
You just buy the tickets separately and the ticket costs you about 100 yuan for a ride as far as I know.

    Enjoy your trip!
