How to Visit Shanghai in Two Days?

If you have only two full days in Shanghai and you would like to feel, touch and see the essential Shanghai, the two-day itinerary in Shanghai below is my suggested example to plan your own memorable Shanghai Tour in two days.

Day 1: Yuyuan Garden, Yuyuan Bazaar, Oriental Pearl Tower, People’s Square, the Bund, Nanjing Road, Hengshan Road Bar Street

Yu Yuan Garden
Get up early and have a fast breakfast, and get to the Yuyuan Garden around 08:00 am by Shanghai Taxi. Yuyuan Garden is the most celebrated classical Chinese garden in Shanghai, with a long history of more than 400 years and famed as an architectural miracle in the south of Yangtze River. Main attractions in Yuyuan Gardens include Sansui Hall, Big Rockery, Elegant Jade Rock, Stone City, etc. There are also a great number of retired people who come here to do morning exercise.

Bazaar Shanghai (Yuyuan Bazaar)
Getting out from Yuyuan Baraar, you will see YuanBazaar. Yuyuan Bazaar, or Yuyuan Market, is the largest Flea Market in Shanghai. You can buy all the souvenirs you want. It is also a haven for street food: soup dumplings, sweets, even birds-on-a-stick.
If you want to look back on the bygone days of Shanghai, the Shanghai Old Streets in Yuyuan Bazaar will lead you to travel through the time tunnel back to 100 years ago.

After finishing your exploration on Yuyuan Bazaar, you can go to Nanjing Road, China’s premier shopping street and one of the world’s busiest shopping streets. Nanjing East Road is just one metro station away from Yuyuan. Metro Line 10 can take you directly there.
Nnajing Road is 3.4 miles long, which starts at the Bund in the east and ends in the west at the junction of Jing’an Temple and Yan’an West Street. People’s Square is just in the middle of Nanjing Road. Your visit on Nanjing Road usually takes one or two hours.

Oriental Pearl Tower
After lunch, you can go to Pudong to see Oriental Pearl Tower. It is not to be missed a visit during your Shanghai two-day Tour. You can take Metro Line 2 from Nanjing East Road and get off at Lujiazui Station, then walk to the Oriental Pearl Tower.
At 468 meters high, it was the tallest structure in China from 1994–2007, when it was surpassed by the Shanghai World Financial Center. The Oriental Pearl Tower belongs to the World Federation of Great Towers.
The Bund
After Oriental Pearl Tower, you are supposed to walk west and across the Huangpu River to the Bund. If you have never been to the Bund, then you have never been to Shanghai.
As one of the most famous tourist destinations in Shanghai, the Bund is surrounded by over 20 architectures along from No.1 to No.33, west of No.1 East Zhong Shan Road. The Bund has turned into the centre of international finance as well as the touring resort thus constitutes as a beautiful picture of the Shanghai City. It’s very beautiful.

Hengshan Road Bar Street
Taking Metro Line 10 and getting off at National Library Station, you come to the most famous night hangout in Beijing – Hengshan Road Bar Street. You will have the chance to see the oldest and also the biggest bar street in Shanghai.
Hengshan Road is only 2-kilometer long, but there are many relaxed Western-type bars which offer all the favorite tipples from home and show live sports. There are many buildings of European-style architecture of the 1920’s and 1930’s on the both sides of Hengshan Road.

After one-day tour, you must feel tired. You can go back to the hotel and have a good rest to prepare for the tour of next day.

Day 2: Fengjing Town, Songjiang Town

On this second day, you have a full day excursion to the two of the most beautiful towns of Shanghai – Fengjing Town and Songjiang Town.

Fengjing Town
Get up early and have a fast breakfast like the first day, then get to the Yuyuan Garden around 08:00 am by Shanghai Taxi. Fengjing Ancient Town is the only large-scale and beautifully preserved ancient water town in Shanghai.
Taking a taxi to Fengjing Town from downtown Shanghai costs you around RMB 300. If you are price sensitive, you may go to the Southwest Bus Station for 45 minutes bus ride to Fengjing Town. It is very cheap.
Admission fee: RMB 46/person
Opening hours: The whole day

Songjiang Town
After finishing your exploration in Fengjing Ancient Town, you can go to Songjiang Town, a small town in Songjiang District of Shanghai. It is on the way to get back to the downtown area of Shanghai.
West of Songjiang is an old mosque part of which dates to the Yuan dynasty and is said to be one of the oldest Islamic buildings in China. Even today it is still a place of Muslim worship.
Add: take Lian-Feng Special Bus and get off at Xinbang Station, then take Song-Xin-Feng Special Bus and get off at Zhaoshang Shichang Station, then walk to Songjiang Town.

Enjoy your two-day Tour in Shanghai!
