We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Sackler Museum of Art and Archeology at Peking University
The museum was completed and officially opened to the public on May 27. Situated in the beautiful west campus of Peking University, it is the first of its kind to be established in China's institutions of higher learning.

Dr. Arthur M. Sackler expressed his interest in helping China preserve its rich cultural heritage by offering to provide a teaching museum incorporating all elements of modern museology, such as modern display techniques, climate control, conservation facilities, storage and security, as well as a training program for archaeologists and museologists.

Discussions about the construction of such a museum were officially entered into in 1984 with the Secretary General of Peking University, Mr. Wen Zhong. Peking University is the logical choice for the museum because of its extensive archaeological collection and because it has been a leader in training Chinese archaeologists since the nineteen-thirties.

In 1986, the construction of the museum was started by digging for the foundation with the investment of Mr. Sackler. The exhibitions are divided into basic displays and temporary exhibitions.

The former is arranged chronologically into seven periods: Paleolithic Age, Neolithic Age, Xia Shang Zhou Dynasties, the Period of Warring States, Qin Han Dynasties, Three kingdoms, Double Jin Dynasties, South and North Dynasties, Sui Tang Dynasties, and Song Liao Jin Yuan Ming Dynasties. In addition, the museum holds an annual special exhibition which mostly gives instructions to the major archeological findings in recent years.
