Beijingers only enjoyed 55 "blue sky" days in the first three months 2007. It is recorded that this year's "blue sky" time is four days more than the same period 2006, in the light of to a report offered Saturday March 31 by the Beijing local government environment organization.
Beijing enjoyed some rainfall in early March, which was quite helpful in reducing the floating sand and dust in the air. But, the Chinese capital's big target of 245 "blue sky" days this year started with a bad beginning. Some statistics tells that in the first two months, Beijing had only 35 "blue sky" days, making the "blue sky" program much tougher for the rest of the year. Beijing City had 241 "blue sky" days in 2006, surpassing the government's target by three days for 2006. Beijing started the "Protecting the Blue Sky" program in 1998. In that year the city enjoyed only about 100 days of "blue sky" days. Since then, air quality has been greatly improving for successive 8 straight years due to the efforts made by both the local government and al the works of life. From: www.etours.cn |
