We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Beijing Subway Line 5 Opens on Oct 07,2007

The metro network of Beijing is not as great as Tokyo and Hongkong but it's the fastest, punctual, reliable, economic means of transportation touring the city of Beijing. By the year of 2008 Olympic Games there will be totally 7 subway lines in Beijing, namely Line 1, Line Batong (above-ground light-rail line), Line 2, Line 13 (above-ground light-rail line), Line 4, Line 5 and Line 10, up to 300 kilometres of subway lines by 2008.
From Oct 07, 2007, a single pricing system is enforced, which means all the subway tickets for the lines above are same price - two Yuan. (US$ 27 cents ). In addition, there is no extra charge for the transfers among different lines. So you pay two yuan, you enjoy riding all the subway lines in Beijing if you remain underground. The paper tickets will be phased out in favor of IC cards, an automatic ticket-checking systems in a bid to increase speed and convenience for passengers. Once you enter a subway station, you will find the ticketing office. You may pay RMB 2 for a subway paper ticket or buy a IC card ( RMB 20 as a deposit and another minimum RMB 20 of input money). The IC cards can also be used on buses, even in some taxis.
