The best time for traveling to Chongqing is from March to June and from September to November. Do avoid the period of muggy weather of summer and foggy winter. Chongqing in Spring
Spring (March to May) temperatures in Chongqing are the most favourable for tourists, but the city falls under heavy fog during this period, which can become quite dull and depressing.

When spring and summer meet, it often rains at night. Spring is the season when the orange blossoms bloom.

Chongqing in Summer
Chongqing weather is famous for the hot summers and the city is known as one of “the three furnace cities”. There are also heavy fogs in summer.

It is really not a good time for you to visit Chongqing in this season, unless you can bear the hot weather. Wear light clothing such as T-shirts, shorts and sandals if you come in summer. Remember to bring your umbrella, sunglasses, and suntan lotion to avoid the heat of the “burning furnace”.

Chongqing in Autumn
Chongqing autumn is cool, foggy and sometimes rainy. In the fall, the oranges are ripe, and create a riot of colors along the riverbanks.

Chongqing in Winter
The temperature in Chongqing winter usually around 6°C and there’s no snow in winter. It rarely get very cold, but the fog can be quite heavy at times.

Although winter months (December to February) are still relatively mild, it is also a good idea to bring some warm clothes while visiting the city, particularly when the mercury drops as the sun goes down.
