The Temple of Heaven to the local Beijing people is more than just a religious place or a place for viewing the ancient Chinese architecture.  It is also a huge park complex that comprises an area of hundreds-year-old cypress trees, well-maintained forests and gardens of various sizes.

The Temple of Heaven is a perfect place for locals, especially the retirees to come here for morning exercises, singing and dancing, and other cultural activities. Inside the east gate there is a lively playground equipped with rows of sports facilities.

Now the playground has become  a lively morning hangout for the local Beijing people to do morning exercises, dancing and other activities, an interesting spot for foreigners to explore the routine life in Beijing.
