Plan your Lhasa tour? At the time of my writing, Lhasa has currently 1160 registered taxis with over 15 taxi companies. The present number of taxis in Lhasa is basically able to meet the market demand. So, it is quite easy for you to hail a taxi on the streets in Lhasa during a non-peak hour in a day.

Taxi Models in Lhasa

Taxi is the city’s business card, a bright and beautiful city view. The local government is very meticulous in choosing the taxis running in the city. They have appointed Zhonghua Zunchi cars (中华尊驰车) to make up most of the 1160 taxi team in Lhasa.

Made by Shenyang Automotive in China, the “Zhonghua” sedan was designed by Italdesign. The “Zhonghua” sedan is targeted at the mid-priced sedan market, including governmental institutions, businesses and individual users in China.

The “Zhonghua” sedans can also be modified for use as taxis. The sedan models include the 2.0 liter and 2.4 liter manual transmission and the 2.0 liter and 2.4 liter automatic transmission.

•RMB 10 just for getting in for 5km
•RMB 2 for each additional 1km
•Minnight 0:00 – 07:00am
RMB 10 for getting in for 5km
RMB 2.2 for each additional 1km
•No tipping.

Remark:
1) Lhasa is not a big city. So for taxi fare RMB 10, you can can reach most of the attractions within the city, like Tibet Museum, Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple,
Barkhor Street.
2) If you like to go beyond Lhasa, let’s say, to Shigatse, Shannan, Tsedang…, you’d better hire a jeep from a local travel agency or a car rental company.

• Hotels, Scenic Spots, Historial Sites, Museum, main streets, Airport and Train Station are the good places to hail a taxi.
• It is vey easy to hail a taxi on the streets. People prefer to hail a taxi near a bus stop instead of those taxi stands

A driver uses the horn only when necessary to warn of danger;
