The city core of Luoyang is administratively composed of four districts – Old Town District, Xigong District, Jianxi District and Economic Development District (New District). The four districts are popularly divided into three parts – Old Town Area, City Commercial Area and New district.
The city center of Luoyang is bisected into the north part and south part by the Luo River passing through from west to east. “Luoyang” literally means “the north of Luo River”.
