Guangzhou in Summer ( late May until early September)
Guangzhou has lengthy summers that last for more than five months, usually from late May until early September. The hottest months are July, August and September, when temperatures range from about 25-36°C.
There will be occasional typhoons and afternoon thunderstorms in summer, so visitors should carry an umbrella when going out. Water sports are very popular in summer.
Guangzhou in Autumn ( later October through November)

Guangzhou winter is a sea of flowers. Winter in Guangzhou normally lasts from late December until mid February, when it can get quite cold, but due to the city’s low latitude, it seldom snows.

Just avoid going to Guangzhou for the markets and and shopping during Chinese New Year ( Spring Festival ), which lasts 15 days from Jan 30 – Feb 14. Suggested to go to Guangzhou at the end of Feb or early March. The best shopping season falls on spring and autumn.

Yes, it is a bit cold and damp during this time of the year in Guangzhou. You’d better wear warmly. Shops are not closed. But most provate shops are closed during Chinese New Year from Jan 26 thru Feb 3, 2017. So it is okey for you to go shopping during your stay.

Basically you have chosen one of the best months to visit Guangzhou with the balmy weather, not hot and not cold. But you will notice the a bit temperature between day and night, wearing a T-shirt at noon and put on a jacket in the evening.

The issue is we cannot go for furniture shopping in any other month except from Dec last week thru Jan mid week. Is Foshan a good place for furniture shopping? Personally I’ve never been to Lecong Furniture Market ( also popularly known as Lecong Furniture City ) in Foshan. You can google “lecong furniture market foshan” and you will get tons of information on the market. It is huge! There are some sections for high end furniture. Just be careful of your skill of negotiation and vigilant on any possible scams.
As far as I know, the furniture stores are open during your stay from Dec last week thru Jan mid week. Basically Jan 1-3,2018 is the new year holiday in China, but not as important as in the States. The malls will be open, and luckily, there may be some discounts and promotion going on in the market.
The furniture city will be closed from Feb 16- 23, 2018 for Chinese New Lunar New Year, which is the most important holiday in China!

Based on the website, it wasn’t an ideal time to visit the country but it will be a trip for our anniversary together. However, if the weather are really bad (Rainy Season in June / Typhoons or thunderstorms in summer) we will adjust the date accordingly,
