China Zhangjiajie Hunan Tourist Attractions


Changsha
Changsha is the capital of Hunan Province, its center of politics, economy, culture, education, transportation. Under its administration are one city, three counties and five districts. It is a busy port on the Xiang River. The Xiangjiang River runs from its north to south. Changsha is linked to the early activities of Mao Zedong, who was born in nearby Shaoshan. He spent most of the period here from 1912 to 1920. Changsha has a long history with a splendid ancient culture. There are rich ancient tombs and relics here. The must-to -see attractions are the Yuelu Academy of Classicl Learning,Han Dynasty Tombs at Mawangdui, the Island of Oranges. The Hunan food, Hunan embroidery and Hunan opera are warmly welcomed

Yuelu Academy:
Yuelu AcademyIt is located at the eastern foot of Yuelu Mountain in Changsha City, Hunan Province.The Yuelu Academy confronts the Xiang River with its back facing Yuelu Mountain. The academy is scattered in green trees that have quite environment. Established in 976 in the Song Dynasty (960-1279). It was awarded with a tablet in 1018 with the imperial inscription: Yuelu Academy. During the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), well known scholars like Zhang Shi and Zhu Xi once had lectures at the academy. Carved on both sides of the lecture hall walls, there are four, big words that read: faithful, dutiful, honest and integrity. The academy was turned into a modern school in 1903 and was reclaimed as Hunan University in 1925.





The Mawangdui Tomb:
The Mawangdui TombIt is situated at the east suburb of Changsha. These are family Tombs of the former Prime Minister of Changsha State of West Han Dynasty. There are three tombs at Mawangdui. The first tomb is a female corpse with 2100 years old. The body is stil intact. You can even move the Joints of the body resembling the fresh body! There are also much silks and other textiles. The second tomb has a great number of colored figurines etc. The third tomb has many silk books of 28 kinds with 100 thousand words. These booked are linked to ancient philosophy, history, science and technology, useful for the study about the ancient times.



Zhangjiajie (Wulingyuan)
Zhangjiajie is situated in the north-east of Hunan Province. Zhangjiajie is also refered to the Wulingyuan scenic area which includes four main areas like Zhangjiajie, the Tianzi Mountains, Suoxi Valley, Yangjiajie Nature Reserve. The scenery of Wulingyuan is really amazing! Zhangjiajie is a city under the direct juridiction of provincial government, and has administration over Yongding, Wuling districts, and Cili, Sangzhi counties. It has a population of over 1.6 million, of which 1.13 million are minorities which makes up for 70 percent of the total population.The scenic area is listed with UNESCO World Heritage.

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park:
Zhangjiajie National Forest ParkLocated in the northwest of Wulingyuan next to Suoxiyu Valley and Tianzi Mountain. It has an area of 72,000 acres, an average rainfall of 1200-1600mm, an average temperature of 16. Zhangjiajie is open to the public in the early 1980s and is the earliest tourist attraction ever opned up in Zhangjiajie. It is well known for its featuring peaks, calm water and spectacular forests. It is the first National Forest Park appointed by the State Council in 1982. Its main scenic spots include Golden Whip Stream, Huangshizahi etc.





Tianzi Mountain:
Tianzi MountainTianzi Mountain takes its after Xiang Dakun who took the lead in the local farmers' rebellion. He regarded himself Tianzi meaning "the Son of Heaven" in Chinese. Linked to Suoxi Valley on the east, Zhangjiajie on the south, Sangzhi County on the north, Tianzi Mountain is one of the four main scenic zones in Wulingyuan. It has an area of about 60 square kilometers with an average temperature of 12, an annual waterfall of 1800 mm and a frozen period of about 80 days. The majority of its attractions is comprised of quart stones with sandstone feature the same as Suoxiyu Valley and Zhangjiajie. The mountians have primeval forests and beautiful water. Also their local plain folkways, special customs and local specialities are attractive to tourists fro home and abroad. People often say that if people who have climbed Tianzi Mountain will have no desire to climb any other mountains" and "It is said that you haven't been to Wulingyuan if you don't climb Tianzi Mountain".





Suoxi valley Nature reserve:
Suoxi valley Nature reserveThe Suoxi valley Nature reserve has over 100 scenic spots in Yangjiajie whose waters and mountains are quite beautiful. It has uniquely-shaped peaks and cliffs as well as clear streams and brooks and waterfalls; oblique "Twisted Mouth Cave" once inhabited by bandits as well as "Ghosts-feared Fort" which is extremely hard to climb. What's more, there are many unusual spectacles like Mati Rock, Tianbo Mansion, and Sisters' Gully. Its special views are beyond writing and seeing.





Yangjiajie Nature Reserve:
Yangjiajie Nature ReserveYangjiajie is next to Zhangjiajie in the east and Tianzi mountain in the north with an area of about 34 square km. It is formed of three parts: Xiangzhistream, Longquan valley and Baihouvalley. The Yangjiajie Nature Reserve over 100 scenic spots. In this reserve you will find clear waters with spectacular mountains. It has unique peaks and cliffs as well as clear streams and brooks and waterfalls.



Fenghuang Jishou

Fenghuang Jishou

These two towns are in the northwest region of the Hunan Province. Fenghuang literally means " Phoenix" in Chinese, a small and old city, 145 km south to Zhangjiajie City and 50 km south to Jishou City in Hunan Province, China. Fenghuang covers an area of 1700 km with a population of 370,000. There are the minority ethnic group, such as Miaos, tujias. Fenghuang was described as鈥渢he most beautiful ancient city in China鈥 by the famous writer Louis from New Zealand. Fenghuang has lots of relics and the sightseeing , the ancient city`s mountains and Tuo river, residents and establishment, temples and pavilions and so on. How to get to Fenghuang ? You may first go to Zhangjiajie and connect buses to fenghuang or you first go to Jishou and connect the buses to Fenghuang. Beijing West Station K267 12:58 / 14:53 next day.
