Plan your Pingyao tour? Taiyuan Railway Station is your essential springboard from Beijing, Xian, Luoyang, Guanzhou and more domestic cities.
Taiyuan Railway Station is located at the east end of the east- west Yingze Avenue (迎泽大街) and on the north-south Jianshe South Road (建设南路) in the city center of Taiyuan. So Taiyuan Railway Station lies on a T-junction. The main building of Taiyuan Railway Station faces the west linked to the east end of the longest east-west street – Yingze Avenue (迎泽大街) which roughly divides the city into two parts – north and south.
For the main building, the left side is the exit, the middle is the entrance and the right is for the ticketing. Above the entrance in the middle of the main building is a huge electronic timetable screen showing the realtime train schedule and information about the platforms.

Taiyuan Railway Station is an essential train transportation hub connecting major cities within Shanxi including Datong, Pingyao, Jiexiu, and Yuncheng. Taiyuan Railway Station also links Shanxi to the outside world running to Beijing, Xian, Luoyang, Shanghai, Guangzhou and loads more. The highspeed trains have shortened the traveling time between Beijing and Taiyuan to 2 and half hours. At the time of my writing, Datong – Taiyuan – Xian Highspeed train line ( Da Xi Highspeed Trains ) is under construction. The overnight trains and normal trains go from Taiyuan to Pingyao, Xian, Datong and Wutai, further extending to Xian, Luouyang and Beijing.
