Ci QI Kou
Ci Qi Kou, 14 kilometers (8.7 miles) west of Chongqing City, is a village on the riverside of the Jialing Jiang (Jialing River). Every one stopping in Chongqing should make sure not to miss the ancient village Ci Qi Kou. The village bears a strong flavor of the Ming (1368 – 1644) and Qing Dynasties (1644 – 1911) and takes you back to everyday life of the old days.
Covering an area of about 1.2 square kilometers (297 acres), the village remains as before: twelve streets and lanes interlaced with paving of grayish slates. Strolling along, looking at the picturesque wooden shops and other various outlets with people inside leisurely going about their business, you find yourself absorbed by the strong feeling of ancient times.

People Liberation Monument
Located at the intersection of Minzu Road, Minquan Road and Zhourong Road, the People’s Liberation Monument is one of the landmarks of Chongqing.
Chongqing People’s Liberation Monument was built in 1945 to commemorate the victory over the Japanese in WWII. it is about 27 meters tall. It stands in the Jiefangbei commercial square that is kind of like Times Square in New York. Jiefangbei square is a pedestrian square about 24,000 square meters in area. It was completed in 1997, and around the square are large malls and shopping centers, luxury hotels, entertainment areas, financial companies and high-rise buildings.

How to get there: There are many buses can take you to People Liberation Monument, including Buses No. 413, 418, 481, 301, 303, 215, 103, 104, 111, 112, 122, Tram No. 401, 402 or 405.
Dazu Rock Carvings
In Dazu County, some 165 kilometers away from Chongqing, are more than 40 sites of stone carvings with over 50,000 statues of Buddha completed from the late Tang Dynasty to the Song Dynasty. The grottoes on the Beishan Hill and Baoding Hill are the largest in scale, richest in content and most refined in artistic skill
The Dazu Rock Carving is a piece of great work of China’s grotto art.  It’s not only rich in content but also carved with marvelous technique. It skillfully combines the scientific principles of mechanics, optics, and clairvoyance with statues themselves and landform. The Dazu Rock Carving is reputed as “Artistic Palace of the Tang and Song Dynasties”.

How to get there: There are long-distance buses to the Dazu Rock Carvings both from Chongqing and Chengdu.
 
General Joseph W. Stilwell Museum
The General Joseph W. Stilwell Museum is situated in the Yuzhong Region of Chongqing, and occupies an area of 7.2 mu (about 1.2 acres).
It was founded in memory of Joseph W. Stilwell, an American general who contributed a great deal to the Chinese people. Since the museum opened to the public in 1991, tens of thousands of visitors from home and overseas have been there. William Pace, a former American Secretary of Defense, made a special trip to the museum in 1994 and was greatly touched by how well it had been preserved. Although it has been restored and enlarged several times, the style of it has not been changed.

Wulong Karst Region
Wulong Karst, an important part of South China Karst, is situated at the lower reaches of the Wujiang River southeast of Chongqing. It was named as a world natural heritage by UNESCO in 2007.
Chongqing Wulong Karst features spectacular karst landscapes, including the three main parts of Furong Cave, Three Natural Bridges and Houping Tiankeng (Houping Giant Doline).
Wulong Karst is a valuable treasure that nature created. It is a cluster of several karst landscapes, consisting of gorges, natural bridges, caves, eroded dolines, shafts and underground streams.
 
Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum
The Three Gorges Museum is located in downtown Chongqing, next to People’s Square and across from the Great Hall of the People.
Occupying a floor area of 4,200 square meters (1 acre), Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum exhibits cultural relics numbering up to 30,000 items which excavated in around Three Gorges region. Adopting modern techniques by integrating sound, light and electricity, the museum enables people to understand the culture and history in a more interactive way.

How to get there: Bus No.104, 112, 132, 145, 152, 181, 215, 261, 262, 265, 322, 338, 421, 609, 829, 862 (Inner Loop Line), 866, 868 (Afternoon) or 881 and get off at Dalitang stop.
 
Great Hall of the People
Situated at Xuetian Wan, Renmin Road, Chongqing and covers an area of 66,000 square meters with a 4,000-seat auditorium, the Great Hall of the People is considered the emblem of Chongqing.
The hall is in the architectural style of the Ming (1368-1644) and the Qing Dynasties(1616 – 1911). The round roof with its green glazed tiles makes the building looks like the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, the porch in front of the hall with its red columns and white marble rails reminds people of the Tian’an Men gate in Beijing.

Chongqing Zoo
Situated in the southern part of Chongqing, Chongqing Zoo occupies more than 60 hectares of land. There are over 200 species of animals and 1,000 birds. Among all of the residents of the Chongqing Zoo, the pandas are the most popular.
There is a tea house and restaurants. There are pens or corrals for animals and amusement facilities, and the two kinds of pandas in the Panda Room are the star attraction.
